Sunbed maintenance is absolutely crucial to keep your equipment working efficiently, cost effectively and, above all, safely. The most recent models of sunbeds have the benefit of good design requiring only limited upkeep but maintenance is still essential to keep them in tip-top condition. A poorly maintained sunbed will be less reliable and could cost you custom. With the use of sunbeds on the rise across the nation your machines are likely to be in demand, thus efficient maintenance is vital in preventing breakdowns at times when the machines are in use.
First and foremost, safety must be of the utmost concern with regard to sunbeds. Regular services under a sunbed maintenance agreement will ensure that the machines are in good, safe working order and are in full compliance with health and safety regulations. Trained professionals will be able to easily prevent any breach of the regulations and ensure maximum safety for your clients.
Sunbed maintenance will ensure that the equipment is in suitable working order and should include cleaning the sunbeds regularly. Of course cleaning with a damp cloth after every use is a standard process to prevent the build-up of tanning lotion and dust on the UV bulbs. This obviously helps to keep the bulbs working at their maximum capacity and keep your customers satisfied with their tanning experience. However each bed requires a deep clean using specially formulated products at least once a year. The dust drawn in by cooling fans can clog filters and cause overheating. Ultimately this will damage the electrical components and cause the sunbed to fail. The benefit of a maintenance contract is that this deep clean is normally covered as part of the valeting service offered. A clean sunbed will look newer and more impressive to your clients.
Regular servicing of the beds offers value for money in two respects. Firstly it improves the efficiency of each sunbed and thus reduces the electrical running costs for your business. The UV bulbs should be replaced regularly, after 500-800 hours of use, and simultaneously, as part of general sunbed upkeep. It is estimated that after the manufacturer’s recommended hours of use the UV output has dropped by a minimum of 25%. The reduced power of the bulbs will become noticeable and the bed inefficient. As part of a maintenance contract the bulbs should be replaced with new bulbs compatible with the sunbed model.
Secondly, and most notably, it is likely to prevent extortionate repair costs. Without proper sunbed maintenance you are likely to incur call-out repair costs which will be at a far higher rate than a maintenance contract. Most companies who don’t offer maintenance contracts have a hefty call-out fee before any repair and labour costs are even brought into the equation. Professionals advise that each service is likely to prevent several breakdowns, both minor and major.
When hiring a sunbed it is likely that the supplier will offer regular servicing and will carry out repairs as part of the contract. It is certainly something worth bearing in mind when considering sunbed rental. Alternatively if you have purchased your own sunbed there will be a warranty period in which maintenance is covered. After the warranty expires many suppliers offer maintenance contracts. These contracts offer good value for money and prevent costly call-out costs in case of equipment failure. There are also specific companies set up to cover sunbed maintenance. These often offer both over the phone and call-out services to solve any maintenance issues.
