We live in a celebrity crazed society with an image of thin beauty bombarding us from every corner, and everyone young, old, skinny, fat, seems to be obsessed with their weight. Everyone knows someone that is on a diet, thinking of going on a diet, or trying to get off a diet right now. And we all have this image in our mind of what the perfect weight is. But do we really? Are we using the wrong images that the media is throwing at us to determine our ideal weight? The fact is, there is no one ideal weight, because every person’s ideal weight is different. What will be your ideal weight, may not be the ideal weight of Cameron Diaz for example. So before you start looking for ways to get to that perfect image, read here to see if you are on the right track or if your goals need some tweaking. You may be working harder than you need to be.
At the global level, most countries use similar standards when it comes to determining ideal weight. For example, the BMI, the Body Mass Index is a way to determine a range of safety in terms of weight, but it is not an exact tool that can be used to tailor a specific program. You can use the BMI calculators online to determine a good idea of where you should be, or where you are at, but you should by no means use these as the only tools you use to plan your weight loss goals.
When it comes to setting your weight loss goals, you need to find the goal that will fit into your lifestyle, and that has your personal perspective. Trying to attain some sort of perfection may exhaust you in the beginning stages, and exhaust you enough to quit your program all together. So it is very important to choose elements of your weight loss goals that are realistic and that you will enjoy trying to stick to.
If for example you have a favorite dress that is a size too small for you now but you know looks hot on you, then let that be your first goal. If you don’t have one of those dresses, go find one. Try it on in your size now, and buy the next smallest size. Now you have a reward already waiting for you.
Set small goals for yourself that are minor at first, but will add up to results. Small goals are important because you need to first start the habit of succeeding with your program, and this will motivate you enough to continue succeeding. How will you do that? By moving to bigger goals as you move along, or until you are happy with your results. A small goal would be to lose one pound in one week. While the larger goal would be to lose enough to fit back into that dress.
At the end of the day, you are the one who will be most effected by your weight loss plans, so you are the one who needs to be in control. You can use the tools and resources that are best for you and your lifestyle, and tailor your goals accordingly. When it comes right down to it, balancing the difference between how much food you eat, and how much exercise you do will determine your end result. But when you can’t tweak those into your lifestyle, you may have to turn to methods like medications such as phentermine. Every person is different, every ideal weight is different, and everyone’s weight loss plan will be different. Medication like Phentermine is NOT for everybody, but it may be all YOU need to reach your own ideal weight.
