We have all heard, repeatedly, that frequent blog posting is the best way to generate traffic to your site and to keep people coming back. Is this to say that posting blog entries on an infrequent basis is a waste of time and energy? Many of the best blogging sites around today maintain a consistent yet infrequent posting schedule that seems to work just fine for both the blog master and their readers.

Here is a look at 3 strong reasons why infrequently posting blog entries benefits not only the readers but the blog master as well!

Improved Quality

Firstly you avoid compiling a bunch of 'rubbish' on your platform just for the sake of having something, anything to post! With all due respect to the social network sites, some sites tend to post entries that carry the equivalent amount of information you may find in the average tweet! In a rush to 'stay on schedule' it is understandable that research and quality may be lacking. On the other hand an infrequent schedule can reduce this rush and help restore the quality of the information posted..

Gives Readers 'Space'

Infrequent entries not only 'allows' for readers to avoid being 'swamped' with a backlog of unread posts, but also gives the site owner time and space for other things as well. It is no secret that people in general live very busy lifestyles with so many things to do and not nearly the time to do them. By allowing both the reader and the blogger additional time between posts it helps 'relieve' an already busy schedule allowing time for other things.

More is Learned

Both readers and the blog master, when given additional time, stand to learn more based upon the amount and depth of research conducted and passed along. Instead of rushing to maintain a steady flow of content, information is being absorbed, analyzed, scrutinized and processed more thoroughly. More thought and insight goes into posting as opposed to the typical 'reporting' process or mentality where less is learned but merely passed along. If you expect to learn more from the blog entries you read, than allow the blogger the time to put more into it!

As important as blog posting is to the life of the site how frequent does it need to be done to generate traffic and keep readers satisfied? Some suggestions have you posting several times 'daily' while some of the best blogging sites around follow a much more infrequent schedule. The 3 reasons against daily blog entries are discussed above and serve as a strong argument in favor of posting infrequently. In this way both readers and the blogger 'gain' space and time to do and enjoy other things as well!
