Cream soups are a wonderful choice when you want a nice, warm, bowl of soup. They are thick, hearty, and not all of them have to be bad for you either. In fact, you can get the comforting taste that you love from cream soups without all the calories and fat, simply by cutting back a bit on cream or butter. With the right herbs and spices, you'll have delicious and nutritious soups to enjoy. Here are just a few of the favorite cream soups that you'll want to fix again and again.
Cream of Mushroom
Probably one of the most popular cream soups happens to be cream of mushroom soup. The thick creamy texture is wonderful, especially with the large chunks of mushrooms thrown in. Add some onion, plenty of mushrooms, some beef or vegetables stock, and the right seasonings and you'll have a nice, creamy soup that is great alone or in other recipes as well.
Cream of Tomato
Another popular cream soup is cream of tomato, which adds a bit of cream to tomatoes to give you a smooth tomato soup that tastes wonderful. Eat it with a slice of garlic bread on the side or add it to a favorite pasta dish for great flavor.
Cream of Chicken
Cream of chicken is one of the favorites when it comes to cream soups, especially since it is so versatile. It is delicious on it's own, especially if you take the time to make it from scratch yourself. Not only is cream of chicken a great soup to try alone, but you'll find that it is used in many recipes to add flavor and moisture to great main dishes.
Cream of Potato Soup
Cream of potato soup combines the best of potatoes and cream soups together for a flavor filled soup that goes down smooth. You can eat this alone, or add some ham and vegetables to the soup for a nice potato soup that will make a filling meal for the entire family.
Cream of Broccoli Soup
Do you love broccoli? If so, you'll love cream of broccoli soup. This soup takes broccoli to a whole new level with the addition of cream, butter, and several other ingredients. It makes a great soup to go along with salad or you may want to try it in casseroles as well if you aren't fond of eating it by itself.
These are only a few of the most popular cream soups out there today. There are many other cream soups you may want to try out too. Consider giving cream of celery, cream of apples, cream of asparagus, and other creamed soups a try as well. You are sure to love their flavor filled creamy taste.
