A Trout Fishing Guide
What is your reason for going on a trout fishing expedition? For other people, they find it a great way to unwind and to relax and an opportunity to commune with Mother Nature. Others go for the challenge that trout fishing pose. Some do it as a hobby while there are those who just go for the simple reason of wanting trout for dinner. But whatever motivation may be behind trout fishing, their common ground is the desire to catch the ever elusive trout.
Catching a trout can be tricky and difficult. You need to be there at the right time, with the right bait, equipment, technique and timing. If you are a novice trout fisher, you would need a trout fishing guide that would cover at least the basics of trout fishing. This is for you to know what to do under certain situations so that you can reel in a trout.
You should have a decent trout fishing guide to orient you on the basics of trout fishing especially if you are just a beginner. You are sure to learn a trick or two from it that can help you when trout fishing. Just to cover the basics, pay attention to the following:
The Trout. First and foremost, you must have a general knowledge about trout. You should know that there are a lot of varieties of trout like golden trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, and the like. Some of these varieties can only be found in certain places while others can be found in other parts of the globe. To know the kind of bait, fishing technique, and fishing equipment to use, you must need to know the trout available in the area where you plan to fish.
Also important to know is the difference between the two kinds of trout, the stocked trout and the native trout. The kind of bait that you should use when fishing depends largely whether you're trying to catch a native trout or a stocked trout. If you must know, they have different responses to most baits.
Knowing their behavior and how the seasons affect their behavior give you an edge over them. When fishing during the trout breeding or spawning period, you can pinpoint their location and determine the right technique to use if you know how they behave during this particular time in their life cycle. Their behavior also varies depending on the season of the year.
The Fishing Equipments. If you take into consideration all the available fishing equipments, it can really be easy to get overwhelmed especially if you are a novice in trout fishing. They come in various styles, colors, sizes, and the like.
For starters, you should have reel, hooks, line, and rods for trout fishing. Bring only the ones that you need as it is quite hard to lug about your whole collection of fishing equipments while trekking to that secluded spot where you plan to fish. It also important to make sure that the equipments you bring have been cleaned and are in excellent working condition. Because, really, what's the point in bring them if they won't work properly?
The Outfit. Wear suitable clothes. What is suitable or not would depend on the weather, the place, and how you plan to fish. Bring extra clothes because you may need them before the day is through.
If you want to catch a trout, be inconspicuous to them. Choose clothes with colors that would make you blend in the scenery. They say brightly colored clothes could make trout wary of you and drive them away.
The Approach. Approach trout fishing with patience and perseverance. It usually takes some time before one, especially novices, can catch a trout. And if you don't want to alarm the trout, avoid making noise and unnecessary movements as much as possible. Tread slowly and softly.
As a postscript, do not forget to secure licenses or permits to before your fishing trip. And it certainly wouldn't hurt if you are aware of the pertinent laws, rules, and regulations on trout fishing in the area.
