There are effective ways to overcome anxiety attacks without the use of drugs. Try to use the following techniques that will help you relieve the symptoms of an anxiety attack:

Relax. This is definitely a hard tip to follow, however you should do everything you can to stop your emotions from developing into anxiety. Breathe deeply, try to focus on your relaxation and slow down your heartbeat. If you’re moving at the moment, simply stop and take some time to rest and relax both your body and mind.

Positive thoughts. Of course, it’s hard to focus on positive things in the middle of an anxiety attack, but you still have to try. Substitute the negative thoughts that crowd your head with positive ones. If it is possible, try to be humorous about your panic and anxiety, and it will certainly help. Try to abstract from any negative thought, because the more you think of bad things, the harder it gets to break free from panic and fight the attack.

Focus on relief. Keep repeating that it will all end very soon, and it really will. A typical anxiety attack takes up to 30 minutes, so keep in mind that it won’t take too long to end. Make sure to not count the minutes passing, because this way you will get more anxious. Just try to relax and think of relief. It will certainly come sooner than you expect.

Exercising is good. Being physically active is very beneficial both for your physical and mental health. Exercising is also a very good solution for stress and anxiety relief. It is recommended that you develop an exercise program lasting for at least 30 minutes, up to 5 times a week for the best results. Besides, exercising often helps in developing effective breathing methods, which are very helpful when trying to cope with an anxiety attack.

Speak to your trusted person. Talking to someone you really trust can be very helpful for reducing anxiety. It can be your loved one, your partner, your family member, your friend or a doctor. Being able to let your feelings out is very important and it’s much better than keeping your emotions and feelings inside.

Herbal solutions. Herbs like lavender, passion flower, chamomile and ginkgo biloba are known to be very good relaxants and effective natural solutions for anxiety attacks with no known side effects. They may be not as effective as some prescription medications, but they will definitely help in preventing anxiety attacks.

Prescription medications. Popular drugs like Valium are often prescribed for treating various types of anxiety disorders. Some anxiety problems can also be relieved with antidepressant medications. Beta-blockers are prescribed for preventing anxiety attacks as well. However, you should first consult with your doctor and get a prescription if you want to use drugs like Valium. You will have to go through a lengthy course that may be repeated if necessary.

Eat healthy food. Exclude processed food from your diet, because fast and junk food are known to be the primary cause for numerous health concerns. Keep your regimen rich with organic and natural foods that do not contain preservatives or any artificial enhancers. Also make sure to avoid caffeine and cigarettes. Both caffeine and nicotine are very powerful stimulants that can trigger anxiety attacks if consumed in excess.
