Crunches for six pack abs are an excellent way to get your body cut. Your abs will become stronger and more defined, giving you that 'six pack' look.

But…

  • Are Crunches The Best Answer? -

Crunches are certainly a good core exercise. But there are so many more out there you can use!

Also, it's very hard to get six pack abs using just regular abdominal crunches. They only hit 1 of your 4 abdominal muscles (your rectus abdomens), and they aren't very easy to add weight to.

  • Why Use Different Ab Exercises? -

Using different ab exercises works wonders because you can work all of your abs and make your workout more difficult. Without these two it'll be very difficult to get your six pack abs.

First off, you have 4 different abdominal muscles - not just the 'washboard' one. To build truly strong abs you need to work in all of them. And it looks better when all your abs are strong and ripped, not just the one in the front.

Also, you need to increase the difficulty of your workout. You wouldn't do a bicep curl with the same weight for months on end hoping to get a bigger bicep, would you?

By increasing the difficulty of your ab workout you'll get bigger and stronger abdominal muscles faster. Less time to getting a six pack; cha-ching!

Also, by changing your exercises you will be confusing your muscles & making them grow in new ways. After a while you won't be able to make progress on the same exercise by doing it the same way.

With a vary of exercises you keep you abs muscles guessing, not knowing what to strength next (or take energy away from and weaken), so you get muscles that can do a variety of movements powerfully.

Exercises like the side crunch, plank, frog leg crunch, and knee raise are great for hitting all your ab muscles. A true workout, not just one exercise.

  • "But I Only Need Some Other Exercises & Crunches For Six Pack Abs, Right?" -

Nah. Sorry, but unless you're genetically gifted beyond the norm (The kind of people I hate :-) then it'll take more than just a good ab workout plan.

You need to eat right, do some aerobics or cardio to burn the fat on top of your abs, and probably lift weights to get bigger muscles all around.

More difficult? Yes.

More complicated? No.

Not necessarily.

With a good workout plan, dedication to your cardio and eating right, and the elbow-grease to stick to your abdominal workout, it's definitely doable.
