There are a lot of cities around the world that are quite one dimensional. By that I mean similar throughout and that can include the geographical layout, culture and the types of things on offer to do and see.

It’s the cities in the world that offer a variety of everything that tend to attract tourists to visit and others to live there. Finding a city like this can be difficult, unless of course you are in the south island of New Zealand.

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and the third largest in New Zealand. It is located on the east coast and is fortunate enough to offer something for all walks of life.

The "Garden City", as its best known, has perhaps the greatest geographic layout and positioning of any other city in New Zealand. It’s right near the coast and close to the mountains - two conveniences that both Auckland and Wellington can’t compete with.

It’s Christchurch’s variety that gives it such a wonderful reputation worldwide. From a lifestyle perspective it doesn’t get a lot better in New Zealand. It offers some of the greatest skiing, surfing, fishing, hiking, biking and walking in the country. It’s no wonder that nearly every hotel and motel in Christchurch is booked up.

Whether it’s for a weekend away or extra long stay, Christchurch is not far away from the thoughts of New Zealanders when it comes to getting away. There are a number of famous destinations right on Christchurch’s doorstep, including the picturesque coastal township of Akaroa, the famous Lyttelton Harbour and the ski fields of Hamner Springs.

Away from the coast and mountains, back in city centre of Christchurch, you’ll find almost everything you need within a short walking distance. If you are planning to head there for work or for a holiday, you can almost bet that you won’t always need a vehicle. If you are staying at a motel in Christchurch or with somebody that is within the central city location, you’ll be amazed at just how accessible everything is.

Within a 2 kilometre radius of Christchurch’s Central Business District (CBD) you’ll find a number of things to do and see, including the famous Cathedral Square and Christchurch Botanical Gardens, the highly acclaimed Christchurch Arts Centre, the Christchurch Gondola, Christchurch Tramway and even Punting on the Avon River.

Accommodation is easy to come by in the city and its surrounds. You’ll find everything from a swanky inner city apartment and quaint bed and breakfast, to luxury hotel and motel in Christchurch. There’s plenty on offer in Christchurch and it’s easy to see why.

Host Accommodation offers a range of accommodations throughout New Zealand, including Hotels, Apartments, Motor Lodges & Motels in Christchurch, Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington & Queenstown.
