Most of us have heard by now about the excellent images and high resolution audio you get from Blu-ray Players and Blu-ray Discs. These players and discs offer the latest in Home Entertainment technology, giving you clear, crisp amazing pictures and sounds. Whether it be 1080p picture resolution, built-in decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio or Full HD 3D movies; Blu-ray Disc Players are the key item that will give the best home movie viewing experience.

But Blu-ray Disc Players are not cheap, so once the decision has been made to buy one, you need to consider carefully what type of Blu-ray DVD Player you should get. Fortunately, there are a wide range of Blu-ray DVD Players to choose from. Yes some are expensive, but others can be purchase for less than $100.00. What you need to determine before you buy is what you need in a Blu-ray Disc Player and which player best fits your Home Entertainment system.

Normal Blu-ray Players can not function without a TV Screen. Therefore, the first thing you need to examine is the type of TV you are going to connect to your Blu-ray DVD Player. Players will allow you to view movies up to 1080p resolution, but only if your television can support 1080p. Otherwise, it will only be as high as your TV can handle.

Next you will want to check your television's outputs and inputs for both audio and video. The main connection that will produce the best possible images is a HDMI connection. This will produce Full HD 1080p playback on Blu-ray Discs. Most HDTV's will have a HDMI input, but older TVs may require converters and different connectors to be compatible with Blu-ray Players. You will have to weigh in the cost of these connectors and cables. However, almost all older and newer TV's should have the required video inputs to connect your new Blu-ray Player. Besides a HDMI Output, most Blu-ray Players will have either a Composite Output, Component Output or S-Video Output for the video connection to your TV.

The Audio connection is basically the same, the HDMI connection will most likely be your best choice to provide great high resolution surround sound. But again, you need to determine what is best for your TV's sound system. If you use an older A/V receiver, they might not be equipped with a HDMI input. Some Blu-ray Players will offer 7.1-channel Analog Outputs that can be use by those with non-HDMI Audio/Video receivers. The most common audio connections found on Blu-ray Players are HDMI Outputs, Audio Digital (Optical,Coaxial) and Analog Outputs (2.0-ch or 7.1-ch).

Another factor to consider when looking to purchase a Blu-ray Disc Player is internet capabilities. Most of the new Blu-ray Players are Profile 2.0. What this mainly means is that it has the ability to connect to the internet. Providing you with a wide range of online services, such as BD-Live, streaming movies, music and photos, etc. Some Blu-ray Disc Players are DLNA certified and have the ability to connect to your Home Network and communicate with other DLNA devices like your computer.

If you want to take advantage of these types of Blu-ray DVD Players, they tend to be more expensive than the players that are Profile 1.0 and 1.1. And of course they require a connect to the internet. Blu-ray Disc Players will have an Ethernet Port to connect you to the internet. You will need to look at your home situation to see if this is a viable option for you to use. Most people do not have an Ethernet Cable in their living rooms. Which can make connecting to the internet difficult. Some Blu-ray Players will be equipped with a wireless internet connection, making the process easier. But, again you will have to pay more for these Blu-ray DVD Players.

Price is always the key factor when purchasing a Blu-ray Player. There are a wide range of brand names and models in the marketplace; all with different prices. Offering you a whole host of features and functions. Some of which you would like to have, others you may never use. Trying to found one that will fits both your needs and budget will probably be the deciding factor. The good news is that even the cheapest of Blu-ray Disc Players will provide you with wonderful pictures and sound.

Overall, when looking to buy a Blu-ray DVD Player you should consider every factor, from picture resolution to your TV connections to price. Nothing should be overlooked. Browse different brand names and models. Look at different stores and websites to compare cost and find sales and deals on Blu-ray Disc Players. This way you will not be disappointed and can begin enjoying the best that Home Entertainment has to offer.
