The world of paintball wars is an interesting one. Some of the best battlefields for the game involve miles and miles of open terrain. Running through forests, over hills and streams and hiding in different prefabricated buildings in order to ambush the other side can certainly be an afternoon well spent, but much like actual warfare, paintball warfare is taking huge leaps forward in the kind of equipment that is used.

With the invention of paintball grenades, a player’s aim no longer needs to be pinpoint perfect in order to take out one or more targets. Simply depress the button that activates the "explosion" and hurl the grenade into a nest of enemy combatants. If the opponents do not know the paintball grenades are in play, its effect is twofold. First ,the user did not have to take aim, but can stay undercover as the grenades are hurled towards an enemy stronghold.

There is also the added benefit that the contraptions are new enough that most people will not be expecting such an explosive device to be coming towards them. Even if they see it incoming, they will be unable to properly prepare themselves for what is coming next. Of course, when dealing with these paintball grenades, all players need to take into account that the opposition has them as well and should prepare accordingly. Players do not want to toss one of these at the opposition only to have the opponents planning the same attack, ending in both sides being painted and the game ending rather quickly.

There is also some question as to whether the competitive leagues that are springing up all over the country will allow a device that definitely takes some of the skill out of the game. There are some leagues who contend that the point of the contest is to have people who are both the better shots and are better practiced at the guerrilla style that is so prevalent in these war games. However, it adds the element of surprise, and can create additional types of challenges. The grenades even the playing field when it comes to the battle.

If these types of contraptions are allowed where war games are staged, it is important to note that for the most part, these are one-time use objects. The bright side is that for the most part these grenades will not break the bank when stocking the armory. The player will still be able to afford other paintball gear, such as paintball guns, goggles, masks, pants and hoppers.
