Some medical doctors and patients are not fully aware of the type of services a chiropractor can provide. Some patients may be, at worst, frightened, or at best, intimidated, by the thought of chiropractic care.
Chiropractors are highly trained in the anatomy of the spine and entire body. Thousands of hours are spent studying the nerve paths and muscle placements. Chiropractic treatment is based on the fact that all nerves come from the spine and service all other body parts to and from that source. With that in mind, chiropractors can alleviate symptoms to various body parts and organs by adjusting the vertebrae surrounding the nerves that enervate them. When the spine is in proper alignment, nerve function is properly restored and organs can function as intended again.
If patients have symptoms or pains that medical doctors cannot find a cause for, they often go to a chiropractor as a last resort. Fed up with diagnostic probing and poking and no real answers or countless pills, patients may try chiropractic. Chiropractors will take x-rays or MRI's and a full medical history of each patient and discuss, in detail, patient's complaints.
Chiropractors are an all natural, hands on treatment plan. No drugs or harmful medications, whose side effects need to be monitored, are used in chiropractic. Chiropractors use their hands to manipulate and eliminate subluxations, or misaligned, if you will, vertebrae. Depending on the condition, relief can be achieved in a short amount of time, a week or less. In addition to spinal manipulations, chiropractors often provide physical therapy and medical massage services, to enhance wellness and strength.
Chiropractors treat back spasms and herniated discs in the neck and back. Most people are not aware that chiropractors can also successfully treat hormonal dysfunctions, asthma, allergies, headaches, insomnia, premenstrual syndrome, sinusitis, and even circulatory problems. The adjustments are not painful and the patient remains fully clothed and comfortable while lying on the fully padded chiropractic table for treatment.
You should see a chiropractor if you would like another opinion if surgery is recommended, you are tired of popping pills that don't seem to help you ,or you just want to feel better overall. Chiropractic is a reasonable adjunct for modern medicine.
