Parents have this natural feeling of being protective of their children. A responsible parent doesn’t want to see their child in pain or in sickness. It is a parent’s nightmare to see their children acquire an ear infection. It causes a great deal of pain which bothers parents about their children’s condition. Because of this, parents look for effective ways to deal with their children’s sickness.
The Eustachian tube (tube that links the pharynx to the middle ear) of children is smaller in diameter when measured against an adult’s tube. Due to this, younger children are much more prone to develop ear infections. Normally, this affects the drainage of the fluid when the child gets cold infection. Soon, the Eustachian tubes get blocked which would allow the fluid to build up continuously in the middle ear. Ear infections will then begin to develop. If no proper action is done to treat the infection, the ear drums may become damaged and deafness will occur.
Published in the October 1998 issue of the Ladies Home Journal, an article entitled, "Chiropractic Adjustments for Chronic Ear Infections", cited the effects and benefits of chiropractic therapy on childhood ear infections. It also proved how chiropractic care can cease the reoccurrence of infections of the ear.
According to the article, 35% of all the visits to the pediatrician are caused by reoccurring ear infections. These ear infections are caused by bacteria or virus. Antibiotics are immediately prescribed by conventional doctors. Note that antibiotics will only be effective on bacterial ear infections but not on viral ones. Furthermore, these medications can cure the ear infection but it cannot stop its reoccurrence.
Additionally, too much intake of antibiotics can develop drug-resistant infections. An unfortunate child who develops this disease may possibly need to have intrusive surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia. This does not picture well to both child and parents.
What is then another way to manage ear infections? Is there a management that is more gentle and convenient? The article pointed out how chiropractic therapy can help stop the reoccurrence of ear infections. A chiropractic care doctor will manually manipulate a few bones of the spine and the neck in order to remove the fluids that block and cause the ear infection. Chiropractic care will alter misalignments, scientifically known as subluxations, in the musculoskeletal system. After initiating the therapy, the drainage in the ear will drain back to normal.
Usually, parents cannot bear to see their child undergo drastic medical management. Some of them also cannot afford the pricey ear tube surgical management. Thankfully, there is an affordable and natural choice of curing their child from ear infection. Several parents can attest how chiropractic care was advantageous to them and how it prevented reoccurrence of ear infections.
As a summary, parents are aware on how difficult it is for their child to acquire ear infection. Naturally, they cannot stand to watch their child suffer from this condition. Prompt and early management is vital to avoid severe complications that may lead into a full blown ear infection. Parents can prove how chiropractic therapy helped cure their children’s ear infection. They also observed how chiropractic care prevented the ear infection from occurring again.
