Most schools today have to face up to the serious problem of teenage bullying and behavior of this kind which commences in the pre teen years, is likely to escalate to the ensuing teenage years and in several cases, even further than that.
Teenage bullying is the level at which victims are faced with an even more sophisticated form of taunting. Bearing in mind that eighth graders attending middle schools have been there for a minimum of four to five years, they are likely to have formed a powerful existence amongst their peers. If the high school they progress to is close by to a middle school, they will usually skip out of lessons and hang around the middle school area, continuing their reign of terror on those they have already victimized previously.
Many teenage bullies will even manage to get together a group of friends, who all have an interest in preying on the younger students of the middle school. Unfortunately, it does not end there as weapons, drugs, smoking and alcohol become part of the gangs make up. Incidents of gang violence have been well documented within many cities of the United States. It is quite easy to spot the gangs in middle schools simply by the headdresses they wear, such as different colored bandanas indicating which gang the teens belong to. Word soon spreads of any intended gang related goings on and when school is out hundreds of teens can be seen preparing for the fight from one direction with just as many coming from the opposite direction.
So how does this relate to teen bullying? It relates a great deal as bullies take part in occurrences of vandalism, theft, skipping school and using drugs. Bullying which takes place in middle schools is the first step in continued aggressive behavior, which ultimately leads to acts of violence being committed by gangs.
Teenage bullies not only make poor students but they also have little, if any, respect for others and most of all for authority. The school is simply their base used to wreak havoc and sheer terror. Teens who have been left back in middle school can be found wandering the halls on a daily basis. They do not attend classes very often, and do everything in their power to disturb everyone else. They yell at staff and then run off to another part of the school to interrupt other classes when security is called. With a background of this type of behavior at previous schools, although administrators do their best, they cannot control these people and in their despair they are eventually given a free rein to do just as they like. This is how the teenage bullies operate.
Research has shown that bullies can be spotted from as young as the age of two years. Starting in elementary school and going through to high school, the bully will enhance his or her control, gather a group of friends who have the same blatant disregard for authority, and form a cycle of verbal and physical abuse which then spirals to the sky in high school. If programs identifying and dealing with bullies from the start are not implemented in schools, the bullies will continue to be the rulers of their realm.
