Some people just sit on a chair and watch the birds though the windows, while some people will go outside or hike to the special place to catch a glimpse of some of the more exotic and rare species. It is usually done by using the naked eye and for enthusiasts who would like to get a better and closer view of the birds, they would use binoculars. Specialty books on birds rich with illustrations are easily available at bookstores and libraries, making bird watching a very accessible hobby for everyone.
Bird watching is not science. It is very common for bird watching enthusiasts to be very knowledgeable about the different species of birds in the world but this does not make them a scientist. But they study the birds not by a scientific methods. They simply take great enjoyment in watching, observing and listening to the different birds. They engage in this activity purely as a favorite pastime. Some are quite happy to observe the birds that visit in their backyards, others travel far and wide to observe as many birds as possible around the world. In the early morning, there are many different birds look for their food, so many bird watchers will get up early and chose this time to see what kinds of birds may appear in that day. Some will log their observations by keeping a journal.
There are many national and international organizations devoted to this hobby. In these organizations, you will make great progress, because you can learn a lot in it, by exchange helpful tips and information, and in this way you and others all can enhance the bird experience. Some local bird watching hobbies groups are formed to observe and make records of the birds that are in their area.
