Having an organised home is something that most people dream of but that many people cannot achieve. There never seems to be enough space to store anything and there are always too many people like children who seem determined to mess everything up! This article acts as a crash course in getting your home organised and ordered so you can actually find something when you want it and you don’t have to be stepping over mess as soon as you walk in the house.

Sitting Room

The best way to bring order into the sitting room is to erect some shelves or racking across one wall. These will not only be for your books and magazines, but they will also serve as excellent storage for things like television remotes, playing cards and DVDs. If you have small items that you need to store then these can be placed in baskets or decorative boxes and then placed on the shelves. If you dress them nicely with photos in frames and knick-knacks then your shelves will not only act as the perfect storage solution but they will also provide excellent overall decoration in the room. Another great storage solution for the sitting room is a large ottoman that has a lid that opens. This is perfect for storing larger items such as board games and children’s toys.

Kitchen

The easiest way to get order in the kitchen is by first having a big clear out, and then organising what is left onto shelves. Because shelves are so flexible and can be any size or length you want, they work brilliantly in kitchens where there may not be a lot of space. Kitchens are often full of food, drinks and other items that are out of date or never used, so instead of letting them gather dust in your cupboards and larder, have a big clear out and get rid of it all. The fridge in particular is often home to multiple pots and jars of half opened foods that can no longer be used. Clearing the decks in this way will really help bring order to the home.

Bedrooms

Clothes have a way of piling up in bedrooms and often can be found scattered across the floor. Being brutal and getting rid of some of your clothes, bags and shoes can often be the only way to get organised. If you don’t want to do this then you can find other ways to store your clothes. One good way is to use them to fill cushions or poufs in the home. This way you don’t have to throw them away but you don’t have to look at them and find space for them in your wardrobe either. Otherwise you can buy a few plastic storage bins and fill these up. Once packed away they can be stored in the attic or in the garage for a later date.

Bathroom

Shelves are a great way to organise bathrooms. They can be filled to the brim with makeup, toiletries and toothbrushes. Small items can be packed into baskets first to make storage easier. Bathrooms rarely have a large amount of space in them, and shelves offer a cost effective and space saving method to store things. The bathroom would also benefit from a big clear out first however in the same way the kitchen would.

There is no doubt about it - shelving storage and racking is the best way to bring order into your home. It can be of any length, style and design and so fits with any decor. Display shelving is a great option for showing off you housewares. It can be used in any room in the house from the garage to the bathroom and can be home to any items, large or small.
