There are different types of hoses used across many applications and one of the most popular is a pressure washer hose. These types of hoses are mostly used for washing car or in other applications. What made it popular is because of its pressurized water jets which make it easier to clean off dirt on your car, buildings, or in concrete road surface.
What is a Pressure Washer Hose?
There are different types of pressure washer hose used around the world. Some of the most basic types of pressure washer hose include: a motorized type of pressure washer hose in which a motor directly drives a water pump, high-pressure washer hose, and the trigger gun-style pressure washer hose.
Most people doing car washes, mostly by hand, have their own pressure washer hoses to make it easier and faster to clean a car. However, other people who do their own car wash can rent a pressure washer hose for cleaning their car. However, the pressure in which these hoses can give vary between types of pressure washer hoses in which some may have 50 bars (750psi), others can have an over of 1200 bars (30,000psi) or more.
Nozzles
Like any other garden hoses, a pressure washer hose also makes use of a nozzle, which normally dictates the type of water jets that a pressure washer hose can do. Several different types of nozzles are available, each useful for a particular application. Some nozzles cause the water jet to be ejected in a triangular plane, while others emit a pencil-thin jet of water, which spirals around rapidly. Most nozzles attach directly to the trigger gun.
Some pressure washers, in combination with a particular nozzle, allow detergent or other cleaning agents to be introduced into the water stream, assisting in the cleaning process. According to many experts, there are currently two types of chemical injectors are available today. These are the low-pressure injector and the high-pressure injector.
The low-pressure injector introduces the chemical after the water leaves the pump (a downstream injector), while a high-pressure injector that introduces the chemical before water enters the pump (an upstream injector).
Notes in Using a Pressure Washer Hose
According to many experts, a pressure washer hose can be damaged if the motor does not draw more water from the pipe to which the washer is connected than that source can provide. Its flow must be equal or superior to that of the washer, so that the pump is never starved.
Another note is that the type of injector used is related to the type of detergent or cleaning agent used as there are many chemicals that will damage a pump if an upstream injector is used.
Other important notes include:
Pressure washers are dangerous tools and should be operated with due regard to safety instructions. The water pressure near the nozzle is powerful enough to strip flesh from bone.
Objects in the water supply can be ejected from the nozzle at great velocities.
The cleaning process can propel objects from the surface being cleaned, also at great velocities.
Pressure washers have a tendency to break up asphalt if aimed directly at it, due to high pressure water entering cracks and voids in the surface.
