So, you wish to understand Spanish but don't have the money to pay for a private teacher? Then, don't pay for a instructor. Why waste money?. There is one more approach to master - through interactive lessons online. You see, language courses do not come cheap, more so if you live in an area where the language is not commonly spoken. I learned this the hard way the first time I tried to learn español. I found a teacher who was well-versed in the language, but at the rate that she was charging me, I considered going to Spain where I could master the language from the horse's mouth!
I had been working as a teacher in the Midwest for a lot of years when my husband got transferred to the west coast. I realized that I would have no problem finding a job, and I didn’t, but when I got in the classroom the very first day, I was astonished. Nearly half of the students in my class had limited English skills and I was expected to somehow meet them in the middle. I had no knowledge of Spanish whatsoever, and the only Spanish words I knew were "gracias" and how to order off a Mexican restaurant menu!
Because I’m not the youngest individual around, I always assumed that understanding a new language would be impossible. So, I never tried. Next, I decided to study the language from a tutor. Admittedly, I should have guessed from day one that this was a mistake. My instructor was very helpful, but this was the only positive thing about the whole experience. I had to drive at least two hours just to get to my teacher's place! Then, you had to consider the expense. The coaching itself came with a price tag which was virtually as much as I was making from my job! When one of my co-workers told me of Synergy Spanish and how it helped her study how to talk with a few of her pupils, I understood that I had to try it. In the end, I had to help these kids and by learning some of their language, I could teach more of mine. What's more, there was, absolutely, no way I could keep on paying my trainer what she was charging me.
There are needless to say a lot of online software programs that will teach you how to communicate in Spanish, but honestly, I did not have the luxury of time and energy to sit through months’ worth of audiotapes and practice conjugation over and over. I needed to know the basics, how to converse, and how to understand what people were saying. Synergy Spanish has a one of a kind approach to the language and is not taught in the normal way, which means that they can teach you much more in a shorter amount of time.
This software comes with 68 audio lessons (which sounds like a lot, I know!), that can be listened to on your computer, your CD player, or on an MP3 player. You can study the language, like I did, on the way to work in the morning in your car, or while jogging on the treadmill at the gym. However, the most important thing, is the way that the lessons are structured.
You may find this hard to believe, but you can study Spanish by using Synergy Spanish without needing to learn a million words, phrases, and technical grammar. Remember 138 words and your Spanish will be good enough to get by in nearly any situation. I did not think that this could possibly be true until I started to see the look of amazement on some of my students’ faces. Over the course of two weeks, they considered me as a Spanish-speaking teacher!
I won’t tell you that this was a walk in the park for me since it wasn't. Yet, it was less complicated than I thought it would ever be. I am organizing a trip to Mexico later this year, to put my Spanish skills to the test, and I am not at all scared about it. I know that with the training I got from Synergy Spanish and the assurance that I have now, I should be fine in practically any circumstance I find myself in. I could definitely do so much more than order off a Mexican restaurant menu!
