Lawn Aerators are a solution for lawn that suffer from excessive thatch build up and soil compaction which prevents or at least makes it difficult for air and water to reach down to the lawns root systems. Some of the benefits of lawn aeration you are giving your lawn an organic treatment to let air, water and fertilizer penetrate the soil so the nutrients reaches the plants root system and this will help stimulate new growth..
Soil aeration is a essential part of taking care of your lawn by aerating your lawn you are supplying the soil with air, this also increases the micro-organism and earth activity in the soil and they help break down thatch. Aeration of your lawn can be done at any time unless the ground is extremely wet or frozen and should not be done when it is extremely hot and dry. Heavy traffic areas will require aeration more frequently. Depending on the type of soil and how much of on area that needs aerating, they are different types of lawn aerator needed.
Aeration is most effective when actual cores or plugs of soil are pulled from the lawn. Holes should be two to three inches deep and no more than two to four inches apart. Lawns should be thoroughly watered the day before aerating so plugs can be pulled more deeply and easily.
Lawns that have a problem with thatch it is important to leave the cores on the lawn, allowing them to work back into the grass. These is a great organic soil conditioner that will increase microbe activity in the soil. Soil aeration opens the soil and helps reduce compaction which improves water and fertilizer penetration. Using a core aerator is the best way to reduce thatch accumulation and to decrease soil compaction. One of the difficulties with core aeration devices is that a substantial amount of soil, grass and roots in the form of cylindrical plugs are left on top of the soil. These soil plugs must either be removed or allowed to break down as a result of being exposed to the elements. Generally, the larger the soil plugs the longer it takes.
Soil aeration advantages;
Helps with soil compaction in severe traffic locations Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance. Helps with water puddling and runoff. Improves lawn thickness, vigor, and on the whole health Improves penetration for fertilizer into the root zone. Helps improve the recycling flow of air, water, and fertilizer. Restore the lawn by enabling the roots to grow deeper.
Core Lawn Aerators a effective for lawn that suffer from soil compaction and have thatch problems which prevents or at least makes it difficult for air and water to reach down to the lawns root systems. Lawn aeration needs to be a part of your regular lawn care.
