There is a wealth of GMAT preparation material online to choose from. If you know some of the options available, you can pick the ones that seem right for you. While some are free, there are many that are not and just wading through them can be time consuming.

Whether you decide to pay for a prep class or not, you need to know your options. Once again the number of sites can overwhelm your search. Here are some examples of what you can expect to find at the more comprehensive sites.

Obviously the access to these programs is pretty much unlimited. However, if you want to have a group experience or are one of those who prefers to work in a cohort then you will require a more focused or scheduled program. Group intelligence has gotten a lot of press lately and might be something to mull over.

Choosing to work on your own means that a site should have numerous resources to help you find strategies that will help you succeed on the exam. Since a group is not there to offer up suggestions, feedback and resources become even more important.

How the site tracks your progress is another key element in exam prep. Most will track your pretest scores and compare them with post tests. You might want to look for a plan that tracks how your study is progressing as well. Scheduling study time is often as big a challenge as the exam.

Some of the larger and therefore more expensive sites have adaptive capabilities. These insure that you work on weaker areas while maintaining your strengths. It also means you cannot ignore those areas that may be less appealing.

If taking tests is a point of contention for you, then being able to go to an actual exam site and use the equipment and preview the entire situation may be extremely important. You can reduce your stress level enormously with armed with this knowledge. There are programs out there that offer this exact option.

Remember that there are free sites for GMAT preparation material online. But, if you choose to use a fee-based program, read the guarantee very carefully. Usually you will be given only 30 days to decide on a refund. Since it takes three to six months to prepare for the GMAT, you want to be sure of what the money back guarantee really means.
