You will find countless signs and symptoms of a panic attack and this article will help you identify them. So before starting, let me discuss first what the disorder is all about. A panic attack disorder is the condition in which a person is distressed by unexpected bouts of panic or anxiety attacks.
There are lots of reasons behind panic episodes but all of them have this one mutual denominator - high levels of anxiety. Every once in a while, all individuals normally encounter mild anxiety attacks. As you know, individuals experiencing mild anxiety increases their cognition and manner of reasoning; yet, the moment mild anxiety escalates to its severe form, it may result into a serious panic attack particularly when taken for granted.
Hyperventilation is but among the typical panic attacks symptoms. This is probably the most commonly noticed symptom among panic attack patients but the rationale as to why this happens still baffles everyone.
Hyperventilation is usually the cause of another panic attack symptom - fainting. Because of the unpredictable and shallow breathing pattern due to hyperventilation, the exchange of blood gasses in the body alters too. Since the lungs do not receive sufficient blood oxygenation, the oxygen being delivered in the brain is also insufficient resulting to faintness.
Next usual symptom is tachycardia or rapid heartbeat. Sympathetic response is the ones in charge in preparing the body to either fight or flight after it has been initiated by the brain as a result of being under a lot of pressure. Increased heartbeat is one of the manifestations of an activated sympathetic reaction.
Mostly, the majority of the manifestations of a panic disorder are brought about by the actuation of the sympathetic nervous system. You see, the sympathetic nervous response is triggered by anything that imposes threat to us. Some of these manifestations are diaphoresis, trembling or shaking, nausea, among others.
One other symptom that I want you to focus on is the sense that time is going by slowly. This is very typical to panic or anxiety attack patients and this is what triggers their fears to escalate. It is due to the fact that these individuals feel they have been suffering for panic attacks for a very long time already. Remember this - a single panic attack episode would normally last for 10 to 15 minutes only. So I propose that during a panic attack, try to calm down and just wait for the symptoms to die down; as because it will surely end.
Those are the things that you have probably experienced during a panic or anxiety attack and what you will be going through on your next attacks if you do not do something about it. You need not to worry that much, I have outlined the common symptoms for you to recognize that they are not life-threatening at all.
