Mastering the Multivitamin
How to make vitamins work for you?
Multivitamins have met with a mixed reaction over the years, but the basic logic behind them is that they help to provide the vitamins and minerals that our bodies can’t produce enough of by themselves. We all know that vitamins and minerals are needed to balance metabolism and promote general well being. What may not be such common knowledge is that a single deficiency of any vitamin or mineral can endanger the whole body.
Of course the best way to get enough vitamins is to eat a healthy and balanced diet, and taking a multivitamin is not a license to skip healthy foods and live on a junk food diet! The problem is that few of us do actually get a truly balanced diet, according to research done in America not one person out of a survey of 21,000 people obtained 100% of the recommended daily allowance of ten basic nutrients!
So it seems like there may be a real need for most of us to supplement our diets with some sort of vitamin, but one look at the supermarket aisle packed with bottles full of conflicting solutions can tell us that finding the right vitamin solution is not that simple. The great thing about multivitamins is that everything comes in one package and you only have to take one product.
To get the best results however, a good multivitamin should include the full range of vitamins and minerals needed to meet essential nutritional needs. Generally this will include vitamins A, B, C, D, E and B6 as well as zinc, calcium and magnesium. It is also important that the multivitamin is formulated to be easily be absorbed by your body. So when you decide which vitamin to purchase make sure the one that you choose includes all of these.
Taking something like this along with a good diet should give you antioxidant protection, immune systems support, promotion of cardiovascular health, blood sugar metabolism support, and bone nutrition at the very least.
If you are trying to become pregnant you should also ensure that your vitamin includes folic acid, or else you should include a separate supplement of folic acid.
There are several multi vitamins that do provide a complete solution although not as many as you think, seeing as how many are one the shelves! My recommendation is Pharmanex LifePak (or LikePak Prime if you are over 50 years old) because it is a high quality and also a complete solution. You can check it out at Pharmanex.
