Dark circles are defined as round, uniform areas of pigmentation beneath each eye and are every man or women biggest nightmare. Many of us have noticed that as we age, we tend to develop discoloration of the skin under our eyes, and don't understand why this happens. I will explain what causes these annoying spots, so you can began the process to reduce your dark circles if you already have them or prevent them from developing in the future.
Dark under-eye circles are a by-product of the very same mechanism that produces bruises, oxidizing hemoglobin. This happens when red blood cells, which normally travel single file through your capillaries, get lost and wonder into the surrounding skin. Your body sends special enzymes to break down the red blood cells, including their hemoglobin (the molecule that gives them their distinctive red color). It is the remaining components of this broken down hemoglobin that give the dark blue color. Now this leakage takes place in other parts of your body but the dark circles are so apparent under your eyes because this skin is some of the thinnest most translucent on your body. So your dark under-eye circles are actually caused by leaky capillaries.
These troublesome spots are difficult to conceal and even harder to get rid of. There are many contributing factors that cause this skin discoloration
-
Get Your Sleep: This is by far the most common cause of dark circle. Sleep is very important for your overall health. Your skin repairs itself at night while you are resting; this is the perfect time to apply a cream to help nourish and repair the skin.
-
Keep your skin hydrated: Our skin is the largest organ on our bodies. It is crucial for us to drink plenty of water throughout the day. I recommend carrying a metal water bottle around with you and keep refilling with filtered water.
-
Limit your medication: Medication has a big impact on your overall health. Some medications actually make your skin weaker promoting dark circles. Do your research when taking any medication and try follow a more natural health regimen. Chemicals are tough on our bodies and they always have side effects.
