Taking a proactive approach to all of your computer’s security needs is an absolute must in today’s society, but the bottom line is that preventing everything from entering your computer and compromising your safety isn’t always going to be possible. While good software solutions can be helpful, it’s sometimes difficult to tell the difference between the good and the unhelpful, as is the case with Antivirus Action.
What is Antivirus Action?
Before you really know whether or not you want a particular program to be removed from your machine, it’s important to understand the details, and in this case, a simple overview of Antivirus Action will probably be enough to convince you that removal is an absolute must. Here are three things to keep in mind about this program.
-
The program itself is classified as a rogue antivirus solution, and it simply isn’t designed to remove anything at all from your machine. Even if you purchase the full version, as you may be prompted to do, you won’t actually get the results you need to keep your computer safe.
-
This program is a clone of several others floating around cyberspace today including Security Suite, SpywareProtect2009, Antivirus System Pro, Barracuda Antivirus, Security Central, Antivirus Soft, Antivirus Suite, Antivirus Live, Antipsyware Soft, AV Security Suite, and Antivir Solution Pro.
-
It’s important to note that this is not a virus. As a result, your current antivirus software, no matter how good it is, can neither detect nor remove it from your machine. It’s just not designed to pick up rogue antispyware programs, so another solution will be necessary if you do have it installed.
A Few Noticeable Factors
If this program is installed on your computer, there are several things that you may notice right away. One of the most prominent is a scan window that will pop up almost as soon as your computer boots up. It looks much like any other security program on the market today, and at the end of each scan, it will notify you that you have a number of threatening problems on your machine, and the only real option you have is to remove them immediately. Clicking on that option, however, will simply lead you to the home page for the program where you’ll be prompted to download the full version for a fee.
In addition to the scans, you may notice security warnings that pop up while you’re trying to do other things. Some of them may appear as normal pop up advertisements do, while others will look like Windows Notification Balloons.
Antivirus Action also has the ability to stop any programs you’re currently running. When you double-click to open a program, you may see a message that tells you the program is infected, so the process has been terminated. That action alone can keep you from running any security programs on your machine.
If you do have the program installed, getting rid of it is your best bet. Removing Antivirus Action, though, can be a bit tough because it does have the ability to hide in some cases.
