Your newborn will discover techniques to inform you if they're dissatisfied and require something. However it usually is much harder to know when they are happy and content. There are signs to know if your baby is happy.
One thing you'll need to keep in mind is the fact that a newborn does not have the capability to exhibit happy facial expressions. So do not expect that first month for little one to smile and respond when you are cooing and beaming at baby. Even though you don’t get a reaction, keep smiling and cooing, as this is helping your infant to learn. The baby also finds seeing your face and listening to your voice very comforting. We sometimes forget about the amount of a baby is learning each day as well as adapting to their new surroundings. For months they heard your voice, but now they hear your voice and see you in a much brighter and bigger environment then they are accustomed to. That smile will come soon enough, so keep that smiling and cooing on your end going.
There is nothing more satisfying then when a baby snuggles close to you. Did you know that is a sign that baby is happy, it is. That snuggle also means that you are projecting good energy for the baby. Little ones are very capable of sensing your mood. Maybe you have noticed a new mom who is not very confident about her parenting abilities, and just how fussy her baby is, this happens because the newborn is picking up on her discomfort. So a key point is making sure your baby is happy is for you to calm down and let go of some of the stress.
Somewhere within 1 and three months babies began to smile spontaneously. They will begin to grin as a reaction to something you have done, so start getting silly with that little one.
Babies really start laughing somewhere between three and six months. Each baby reacts to different things. One baby might find a funny voice hysterical. Others might find tummy kisses the funniest thing in the world. Have fun bonding with your baby in finding out what makes him laugh.
Babies start finding their voices around the four to seven month timeframe. You will not hear words, but a good amount of noises and chatter. They're really attempting to communicate with you, so much so that you may notice that their babbling from time to time gets higher pitched. This is their way of telling you they like something, or something is exciting them. They learn how to talk by listening to you, so keep chatting away to baby, and wait for him to reply; someday soon actual words will take over the chattering.
It's amazing that when your baby reaches the one year mark, he'll be attempting to make you laugh. Your baby will start to develop his sense of humor at this time and he will find it fun to cause you to laugh. Should you laugh at something, they'll do it again to get a laugh. So use some caution at what you laugh at. A bowl of cereal over his head may be funny one morning, however, not every morning for the next few months.
