I know that this site is mainly dedicated to learning how to learn, and tips and tricks to save you time, but I am coming across all of this amazing information that can be applied to your learning and education that I NEED to share. First of all, if you haven't checked out the Speed Reading Section or gotten your Free Speed Reading Software, be sure to put your e-mail in on the sidebar and get started. Learning to Speed Read will save you so much time, its unbelievable. You can read several books a day without breaking a sweat, and remember all of it perfectly.
I just read a book called Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time by Brain Tracy, and if you haven't already, be sure to pick it up. There are a lot of concepts in the book, but the main one that really needs your attention is about eating the frog. The idea behind eating a frog is as follows..
"if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can then go through the day with the satisfaction of know that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long. Your frog is your biggest most important task."
By knocking out the hardest task of the day, there will be no reason to waste any time procrastinating over it. Since it will be completed, you are able to move on the with the rest of your day without the Frog looming over you. After reading this book, I have been writing out my normal list the night before, and picking out the hardest task that will have the greatest positive impact on me, and labeling it "The Frog." Each morning right after breakfast, I tackle that frog and my day moves on better and smoother than ever.
The idea behind it is fairly straightforward, but actually applying it personally is life changing. Try it for the next 7 days and let me know what you think. Before you go to bed, right out a list of the tasks you need to complete the following day. Pick out the One or Two tasks that will have the greatest positive impact once completed. Label the frog, and right when you wake up take care of it. You will find the rest of your day to be a breeze.
Take action and write out your list right now. Go over it before you go to sleep, and Eat the Frog right when you wake up. Tell me below about your successes and if you have any ideas to add to the concept.
Good Luck ~Ryan
