Advertising jobs - How to do it

There are a few different ways you can go about advertising jobs, but not all of them are likely to be successful. When you are advertising a vacancy you are looking for a good number of applicants that are qualified and suitable for the role. The difficulty can be though that literally thousands of people apply most of whom are not at all suitable. Another difficulty can be receiving only a very small number of applicants. Either of these scenarios are difficult and make the overall recruiting process a chore. This article provides information about how to go about advertising jobs in a way that is effective and stress free.
The first step to a successful recruitment campaign is to create a good description of the job. Included in the specification document needs to be information about the role itself, what qualifications are required as well as where the job is located. The salary needs to be provided too, at the very least a salary range. The only time this is not necessary is when the position is for senior management when this may depend on the individual. If you leave out any vital information then you could find yourself swamped with emails asking the same questions over and over again. It is very important that you get everything down in the job posting. If you don't know some of the information then make sure you find out from someone who does. Once you have gathered together all this information it is time to consider where you want to post the job.
There are a whole number of places to post a job. In the past jobs have often been advertised in newspapers and magazines. This can be quite expensive however and furthermore there is very limited room for details about the job. This can lead to many phone calls and emails from applicants requesting more information and application forms that have to be sent by hand in the post. More common these days is to advertise jobs on the internet. This removes a substantial amount of work for the person advertising the role and can be easier too for those wanting to apply as they don't have to fill in application forms by hand which is time consuming. The only problem with advertising online means that you get a considerably higher number of applicants who are not suitable for the role. When applying for a job by post people are only likely to do so when there is a strong chance they will be asked for an interview. The same cannot be said for jobs being advertised online.
There are a large number of free classified ad sites. You may consider these, but in reality they are often filled with so much spam that posting here is not such a good idea. You may get a large number of applications, but they have a strong chance of mostly being from people who aren't qualified or who don't have the experience required. It is a much more sensible idea to post the job onto specific job boards.
Finding a reputable job board is by far the best way to advertise a job. There are a good number to choose from including some that are limited by area, by industry or others that cover all places, job types and industries. As well as getting your job out to thousands of people, you can filter the applications quickly and instead of receiving hundreds of CVs in your intray you can simply view them online and only print off if necessary.
There are few different ways of advertising jobs, but by far the quickest and easiest is by taking advantage of free job advertising and employer job postings on relevant websites. This will make the whole process easier to manage and gives you the best chance of finding a suitable candidate.
