A regular recipient of international accolades and awards, Cape Town is peppered with hot spots and highlights, both natural and man-made, with the V&A Waterfront ranking as the most visited tourist attraction in the land.
Tourists are blessed with both day-time and night-time activities. Cape Town's natural splendour is probably it's biggest asset - but this is easily rivalled with the beat of Kwaito music, rap and Afrobeats at most of the taverns, pubs and shabeens dotted around the city.
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
Kirstenbosch hosts a number of simmer time concerts in the botantical gardens, with almost 500 hectare of floral beauty situated at the foothills of Table Mountain. The gardens are meticulously maintained and showcase the unique floral kingdom of the Cape in all its glory. No wonder it is a World Heritage site.
Table Mountain
Cape Town is one of the few world cities with a national park in its midst, the glorious Table Mountain National Park. Comprising a mountainous chain dominated by the iconic front Table, which overlooks the CBD, Robben Island and the V&A Waterfront, and stretching all the way to Cape Point, the park is an important conservation area and a popular leisure destination.
There are over 500 well marked hiking paths covering the entire area whereas mountain bike and horse riding trails are confined to certain locations. Table Mountain Cableway is a must have activity - with 360 degree views of the peninsula on offer.
Wine Route in Constantia
Situated in the southern suburbs and only 15 minutes from the centre of town are the historic wine estates and cellars of the Constantia Wine route. Visitors are encouraged to travel from one farm to another tasting the tipple and marvelling at the Cape Dutch architecture and majestic surroundings of the first wine producing area in South Africa.
V&A Waterfront
Located in the heart of Cape Town's working harbour is the V&A Waterfront, a treasure trove of shops, restaurants, pubs, galleries and arts and crafts markets. It is also the destination of a range of adventure activities including Cape Peninsula helicopter flips, fishing charters, deep sea diving adventures and sunset champagne boat cruises.
