Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez - Conquering Mount Lesnar

Brock Lesnar doesn't have a perfect MMA record. He lost a fight early in his career to Frank Mir by submission. Most people that seen that fight agree that he lost only due to inexperience. Mir took a bad beating from the beginning of the fight. After being separated by the referee for an unintentional blow to the back of the head, Mir caught the inexperienced Lesnar in a knee bar and quickly finished him by submission.
Lesnar left that fight with a loss on his record and no injuries. Mir left the fight with a win and a face that was bloody and bruised from being punched repeatedly.
It appeared that Brock Lesnar learned from his mistake and he quickly ran through some of MMA's legends including Randy Couture. Even though he lacked experience, his ability to use his massive size to his advantage proved too much for most challengers to deal with and he did a great job of controlling his opponents. That is at least until he faced Shane Carwin.
For the entire first round Carwin was able to avoid the take down by Lesnar and keep the fight standing. What we learned from that fight shocked many fight fans. Brock Lesnar had no stand up game. Carwin punched him at will.
For most of the first round we seen Brock Lesnar running, falling, and getting punched repeatedly. Many fight fans argued that the fight should have been stopped in the first round, because Lesnar showed no ability to defend himself.
Lesnar was able to take an exhaused Carwin to the ground and win by submission in the second round but Lesnar's secret was out. He has no stand up game and it became clear the way to beat Brock Lesnar was by standing with him.
It's unclear if Lesnar spent any time working on his boxing skills after his match with Carwin, but it's very clear Cain Velasquez took note that his best chance to beat Brock Lesnar was on his feet. During their October 2010 matchup, Velasquez was able to keep the fight standing for the first round.
From what I seen, it didn't appear that Lesnar's stand up had improved one bit. When he realized that he couldn't easily take Velasquez to the ground, he spent the remainder of the first round running and trying to avoid Velasquez.
His strategy didn't work. With plenty of time to spare, Velasquez beat Lesnar by TKO in the first round. Lesnar showed a true lack of skill and was badly cut.
I believe Brock Lesnar is the four minute mile. Now that he has been beaten and beaten badly, I think we will be surprised at who will beat Lesnar next. Lesnar has a true lack of experience. It's clear he doesn't have the skills to compete at the highest level and can no longer use his size to intimidate and control opponents.
My prediction is we will see Lesnar for only a few more fights before he decides to move onto something new.
