An illustrator was once an achieved professional involved in making images for publication. An author, also a valued expert, would produce a work to publish in cooperation with the artist. Although it took some practice and practical experience to grow to be an illustrator, it could be attained through motivation and ingenuity.
This article is primarily for professional internet authors and illustrators (or people that seek to be).
The internet has modified the game, though. While motivation and ingenuity are even now vital ingredients to these occupations, a handful of issues and developments have devalued both writers and artists. Outlined here are some recent technological developments responsible for this change:
1: Blogging -- Anyone that has a keyboard and an internet connection is an author.
2: Stock photography -- Any dude with a computer system and design software is an illustrator.
See the problem? Add to this the obvious matters of plagiarism, abusive inspiration, and so forth, which can be more typical with the internet than anywhere else, and there you have it...the destruction of two very ancient and esteemed roles.
However, something has not changed: The visual connection between writing and illustration, along with the need for both artist and artist to come together to express a subject.
Here are some things artists and writers can do to add worth to what they publish:
Artists:
1: Get independent. Quit submitting your illustrations and clip art to stock image giants who will devour the bulk of your profit, leaving you with only a tiny percentage. Develop a website with a stock image model comparable to the other mainstream web sites and advertise in accordance with your niche.
- Know your buyers. Have interaction with them. Work with them. Much like #1, get independent and do your own public relations. Its simpler than you think. When the customer knows you, they will appreciate you more than if they obtain your "clip art" for a cheap sum on some big internet site.
Authors:
1: Have to use clip art for your content? Stop acquiring clip art from stock photo giants. Find artists to collaborate with on your write-up. Either they might currently possess the art you happen to be looking for, or they can make it for you. Money does not necessarily have to change hands...the illustrator may simply need some inbound links to his website! In that scenario, no doubt he could trade his/her work for your advertising.
2: Know your artist. Much like you, his talents didn't come over night, and they are not of low worth. Do a variety of projects with each other, and get a synergy going. It will be significantly more enjoyable, profitable, and beneficial for your material and progress.
Nowadays illustrations and writing go jointly as they at all times have, but the value can be maintained simply by changing one's strategy. I hope this post inspires people to take their strategy and marketing much more seriously supplying more value to their career.
Increase the worth of your writing by using high-quality illustrations or clip art. Article provided by ClipArtIllustration.com.
