We all want the fastest way to lose weight. We all want to see instant results and have that amazing body overnight. Although it's only natural to want this, it is often the very thing that causes us to fail at losing weight. Often our desire for the quick fix is what makes you fail at losing weight.

We've all been there and done that. The latest diet craze comes along and you jump unto it - thinking that maybe "this is it". By definition, diets cannot make you lose weight simply because it's designed to deprive your body of something - tricking it into losing weight. Most diets work in the short term as your initial change makes your body lose weight either in the form of water or simply because you eat less.

The popular detox diets are great examples of this as the detox process often flushes a lot of excess waste from your body which leaves you much lighter on the scale. Unfortunately this initial "weight loss" is only temporary and before long you gain all that weight back.

The never ending cycle of losing and then gaining weight is a something that compulsive dieters are all to familiar with. By nature diets are not a long term solution. They basically encourage you to do something "hard" for a while - and once you lose the eight you can go back to your old lifestyle. Can you see how silly this really is?

The real problem with this is that it can quickly discourage you. Often it leads women to think that they cannot lose weight because they've tried "everything". In the process of trying to lose weight quickly, you've actually slowed down your own progress. In the process of looking for the easy way out, you've actually taken the hard way.

There is an old saying that in "life is easy when you do it the hard way and hard when you do it the easy way". When it comes to dieting and weight loss this is most certainly true. Yes, some weight loss methods work faster and better than others. But jumping from diet to diet is just not the fastest way to lose weight.

Always look for more long term solutions. Would you really stick to that detox diet for the next 20 years? Can you really do Atkins for the next 20 years? The answer is to get smart and to start looking at things long term. Yes, it is important to see results fast as it helps to keep you motivated, but it pays to also take a long term view.
