Millions of Americans suffer from smoking-related health problems. An estimated half a million people die prematurely from smoking-related complications. Individuals can substantially reduce their risk of contracting cancer, heart disease, and lung disease if they quit smoking now traditional tobacco products. The challenges these individuals face are great; however, many of the undesirable side effects can be mitigated through the use of replacement therapy. The most popular treatments are the patch and nicotine gum; however, if individuals want to improve their health and still enjoy the act of smoking, electronic cigarettes are the way to go.
Nicotine Patches And Gum
To quit smoking now traditional cigarettes, replacement therapies can be used. These include nicotine patches and gum. A patch supplies a small, steady stream of nicotine to the body and is worn on the skin. The patch comes in a variety of strengths and is intended to be an eight-week quit smoking treatment. As the program progresses, the dose is gradually lowered. There are some disadvantages though; they may not be a good choice for individuals with skin ailments or allergies to adhesive tape. Another side effect for people wearing the patch is vivid dreams.
Nicotine gum is another replacement strategy product. It can be purchased over the counter and is available in 2 milligram and 4 milligram strengths. The user chews the gum and then places it between their cheek and gum tissue. This allows the nicotine to be released into the bloodstream through the lining of the mouth. If an individual wants to keep a steady amount in the body, a new piece of gum needs to be chewed every one to two hours. For heavy smokers, the 4-milligram dose appears to be the most effective. As with the patch, gum does have its disadvantages. Individuals who suffer from temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ) or who have bridges, crowns, caps, or dentures may not be suitable users of this replacement product. Also, this product works more effectively when coffee, juice, and other acidic beverages are not consumed at the same time.
The Smokeless Cigarette Is A Viable Alternative To Tobacco Products
Another possible alternative to quit smoking now traditional cigarettes is the smokeless cigarette. While the nicotine patch and gum are strategies to end tobacco addiction, they are not the most suitable approach for all regular cigarette users. Electronic cigarettes, unlike the other therapies, do not induce vivid dreams nor inhibit denture wearers or individuals who have extensive dental work from using them.
By using electronic cigarettes, individuals are taking a giant step towards a better life and a healthier future. Unlike the aforementioned replacement therapies, the smokeless cigarette performs much the same as its traditional counterpart without the tobacco, tar, and known carcinogens. It looks, feels, and tastes like a regular cigarette without the associated risks of standard tobacco products. Electronic cigarettes were created by modern microelectronic technology and come in two parts. The core of the body incorporates a rechargeable battery and a microprocessor, while the attachment is an atomized cartridge that injects tiny droplets of e-liquid into the flowing air. Unlike traditional cigarettes, e-liquid is water, propylene glycol (approved by the FDA and used in many food products), nicotine, and a scent that emulates the cigarette flavor. It does not contain any of the 599 additives found within regular cigarettes.
The Basics Of A Smokeless Cigarette
When using electronic cigarettes, the act of inhaling produces the physical satisfaction traditional tobacco users seek. As air flows into the microprocessor, it is detected by the device which then activates the atomized cartridge. When the cartridge is activated, it injects e-liquid into the moving air and triggers a vaporizing process that releases a simulated smoke, which is actually a vapor mist that harmlessly evaporates in the air within a few seconds. An added bonus in this process is that the microprocessor also activates an orange glowing light at the tip of the smokeless cigarette to further replicate a real smoking experience. Because electronic cigarettes are battery powered, they do not require lighters or matches. A smokeless cigarette employs 'no-flame' technology, which means that nothing is burning inside the casing. The process is activated by drawing a breath from the microprocessor and stops when the user stops inhaling.
Regular cigarettes are expensive, dangerous to the lives of smokers and nonsmokers, and can cause untold damages to our environment through fires and litter. In an effort to make their and their loved ones' lives healthier, some smokers make use of nicotine replacement therapy. For individuals who want to quit smoking now traditional cigarettes but still want to enjoy the smoking experience, electronic cigarettes are another option. They are similar in appearance to regular cigarettes and enable individuals to quit smoking now traditional cigarettes.
