K2 incense is a blend of herbs and botanicals. Some of the herbs are the same ones that are used for medicinal purposes, or in cooking and other uses. Others may not be as familiar.
Botanicals are simply parts of plants-- some cases the whole plant can be used--that are processed so they can be mixed with the herbs. The processing may include crushing the parts of the plant to obtain the juice (if the plant bears fruit) or the sap (if it is a woody plant). The leaves and sometimes the stems can also be ground or chopped.
Most K2 incense products contain at least some, if not all, of the substances listed below. Their common name or a brief description is given so that you might be able to recognize them:
-
Canavalia rosea: beach bean
-
Clematis vitalb: a flowering vine that is a member of the buttercup family
-
Nelumbo nucifera: the common Lotus plant
-
Pedicularis grandifolia: a flowering plant
-
Heimia salicifolia: Sinicuichi and Willow-leaf Heimia
-
Leonurus sibiricus: an herb; common name Honeyweed
-
Ledum palustre: an herb; common names are Wild Rosemary or marsh Labrador tea.
These herbs and the botanicals from the plants can also be mixed with what K2 manufacturers call "proprietary ingredients". These ingredients can include such things as citron (a citrus fruit that resembles a large lemon, but has a more pungent flavor; parts of the fruit or peel are usually used) or vanilla (either the bean or the extract.)
Depending on who is manufacturing K2 herb, botanicals, and proprietary ingredients will differ. That’s because each manufacturer tries to come up with a special blend that is unlike any of the others already in use.
When used properly, K2 incense can help the user achieve meditative states or prepare for entering into a meditative state. And, as you can see from the word "incense", the K2 herb products used are intended to be burned or otherwise heated so that the aroma and essence can permeate the air.
The effects of K2 incense products will, of course, vary from person to person. One person may feel hardly anything, while another is very sensitive to them. A user should not expect to feel the exact same thing as someone else, even if the same K2 herb product is being burned.
As with all types of incense, K2 incense can be burned in ordinary potpourri or incense burners. There is even one type of K2 that comes in a liquid form. This makes it possible to place the product in a small jar or bottle and suspend special wooden sticks which absorb the incense and then diffuse the scent into the air. You can also add K2 incense product to boiling water, and allow the steam to fill the room.
When you are burning K2 incense product, remember to observe safety precautions. If you use K2 incense sticks or similar materials, make sure they are completely extinguished. Do not even leave them smoldering, as they can flare up again.
If you are using a potpourri or incense burner, or boiling incense in a pan of water, make sure the burners are sitting on a heat-resistant or heatproof surface, and turn the handle on the pan toward the back of the stove. In fact, it is a good idea when using a pan, to place it on one of the back heating elements; this way, there is less danger of a child pulling the pan off or the pan being accidentally brushed against and knocked off.
K2 incense does not contain controlled substances, so technically it is considered legal. However, there are some things about using K2 incense that you should take into consideration:
Some states have passed legislation making the possession, sale, distribution, and use of K2 incense products illegal; other states are considering such legislation. You might want to find out what your State laws are concerning K2 incense.
The decision to use K2 incense products should be an individual, personal one. No one should try to force you to use K2 incense products, nor should you try to force someone to do so.
You should be old enough to make mature decisions before deciding to use K2 incense products.
You should only use K2 incense products in the manner in which they are intended; that is, as an incense. You should not smoke them, nor should you make them into a tea or mix them with food so that they can be ingested internally. You never want to inject them. Also, you should not grind the product finely enough to be able to inhale it through your nose.
Use your K2 incense responsibly.
