Tips & Summary

Anytime I want to create content for my website, or log posts or even when creating a new page for one of my sites, I use a Keyword Tool. It allows me to narrow down my search by showing me the search terms everyone is searching for.

Tip- In your Keyword Research, pay close attention to the amount of competition because this will determine the amount of effort you will have to apply to rank high in the search engines. It’s necessary to reach a happy medium between the traffic volume and the time you have to devote to the efforts.

I would like to take a moment here and explain some of the terms I’ve been tossing around.

Keyword- quite simply its any word that someone types into one of the search engines search boxes.

Keyword Phrase long tail or short-is also literally a combination of words typed into the search engines query box keyword phrases are from 2 to 6 or 7 words. The two word phrase being a Short Tail and 3-4 and longer being Long Tail Keyword Phrases.

Keyword Research is normally broken down into 3 steps.

Keyword Discovery- Where you discover the maximum number of keywords that relate to your website.

Keyword Research- Is an SEO practice used to find and research the actual search words or phrases people entered into the search box in the journey to discover the answer to all their questions.

Competitive Analysis- Who are your competitors? What tools and offers are you competing against? What customer needs and preferences are you competing for? What about your competitors strengths or weaknesses? How are their prices compared to yours? Etc…Etc….Etc…

Summary- you must develop the habit of putting yourself into the shoes of your viewer. What questions are they using when they are conducting a search for what your offering. Just pretend to be a viewer that wants what your offering but doesn’t know about your website. After making a list of all that comes to mind, drop these into a keyword tool and get creative. That’s what always makes the difference in Internet marketing Keyword Research is the Marketers creative input.

Tip- In part 1, I showed you Googles search results for the keyword phrase "Internet Marketing" and shared the results of "29,500,000" with quotation marks.

A little Secret that I want to share with you is, after you have created a list of Keyword Phrases, its now time to use a Keyword Tool, to discover the popularity (number of searches) and the amount of competition for the same Keyword Phrase. Typing in each of your Keyword Phrases in the both forms. With and without quotation marks.

You want to find a search result Without quotation marks of 300,000 or less. With the right keyword and quality content and video and you still have a chance to compete up there with the Big Dogs.

But-it gets even better. Now, find a search result With quotation marks either around or less than 5000. This is the opportunity to dominate a page in Google for that Keyword Phrase. Again, it does depend on the quality of your Content and Keywords. But competing against 5000 or less when considering the Millions out there. It’s a "No-Brainer".
