Face exercises may sound unusual but is no different than the rest of your body. With regular exercise and eating a good diet full of fruits and vegetables, you can reduce the amount of wrinkles and sagging skin that comes from the breakdown of unused muscles.

So what’s so great about face exercises?

The great part about face exercises is actually exercising the muscles in your face and that there is no preparation needed to begin. No warm up exercises, no fitness clothing and no assigned amount of time has to be set aside to perform these simple workouts. You may want to plan into your daily schedule just so you don't forget but other than that, anytime is a great time to work on that sagging, aging skin.

There are fifty separate muscles contained in the face that are elasticized in order to create different expressions. You may discover that you have frown lines from holding your mouth in a downward position or crow's feet along the edges of your eyes from squinting in laughter or against the rays of the sun. These areas of aging can be reversed with daily exercising of muscles that are used infrequently.

One of the simplest face exercises for working those muscles around your mouth is to stretch your mouth into the widest smile possible. Hold for five seconds and do a complete reversal by puckering your lips and reaching them outward as far as possible in the shape of an ‘O' and holding for five seconds.

Strengthen your forehead muscles and eliminate those creases that are beginning to form around your eyes and eyebrows by raising your eyebrows as high as possible. Hold this position for five seconds. Another good face exercise for working additional facial areas is to open your eyes wide, raise your eyebrows and frown all at the same time.

Double chins or sagging skin along the base of your face can also be improved by sitting up straight, raising your head toward the ceiling and puckering your lips. At the same time, stick out your tongue as far as it will reach. This is a great way to reshape the skin throughout the neck area and limp skin along your jaw line.

Performing these face exercises and others can help you retain the elasticity in your facial muscles to keep them firm and healthy. A great website for learning about the different muscles in your face and what their function is can be located at www.face-and-emotion.com/dataface/expression/muscles.jsp.

Keeping that youthful glow does not have to be difficult or require costly surgery if a routine of regular face exercises is established. Start your daily routine of working those facial muscles and watch changes taking place in a few short months.
