Newquay, the lovely seaside resort in Cornwall, England is situated west of Bodmin and north of Truro. Newquay has been a major tourist destination for many decades, mainly due to its gorgeous coastline and long sandy beaches, which are renowned for surfing and a full range of water sports. Newquay is a famous destination for coach holidays as there is so much to do for both children and adults – no one can possibly be bored with all that Newquay has to offer.
The town is filled with clubs, pubs, cafes and quieter restaurants, and has many shops to keep visitors happy. As for activities, there is much to do apart from the beaches and water activities – with a vast variety of excitement, entertainment and activities to keep you occupied. Here are a few places to visit during your coach holiday to Newquay:
Blue Reef Aquarium: Located on Towan Beach, this aquarium is perfect for an undersea safari. With a giant ocean tank with underwater tunnels, you are given magnificent views of all kinds of fish such as reef sharks, stingrays, moray eels, giant groupers and hundreds of brightly coloured reef fish. There are also feeding displays and entertaining talks given.
Japanese Garden and Bonsai Nursery: This is an authentic Japanese garden set in 1.5 acres, and has all the typical features one would expect – such as a water garden with koi carp, woodland garden, stroll garden, Zen garden and many more. This is an excellent place to enjoy walks and appreciate beauty.
Buccaneer Bay: With realistic life size figures, smoke and visual effects, a fantastic sound system and atmospheric lighting, and most importantly, the introduction of role playing pirates - this is an innovative way to see Cornish history and legends. Cornwall’s first ‘scare’ attraction – the Sunken Village of the Damned is a must visit!
Newquay Animal Park: This is the only zoo in Cornwall, and is set within 8 acres of landscaped gardens with over 130 species of animals. Here you can experience the world’s wildlife – a perfect way to spend the afternoon. There are amazing exhibits at the zoo – the rainforest, oriental garden, savanna, and the all new Madagascan walkthrough exhibit.
Golf Courses: If you prefer to play a few rounds on golf on your coach holiday in Newquay, then there are plenty of options for you. There are several golf courses with lovely views of the countryside to suit all calibre of players. The Newquay Golf Course over looks the Fistral Beach, and is a wonderfully maintained 18 hole course. Treloy Golf Course is situated in the outskirts of Newquay, and offers a 9 hole quality course. Holywell Bay Golf Course is a challenging 18 hole course that has superb scenery and coastal views.
