Data entry jobs are becoming one of the fastest growing and in demand careers online and offline as well.

All companies – whether big or small – requires documents like letters, reports, proposals, manuals and databases to be done and updated frequently in meeting the needs of clients and audit firms.

The problem is they have difficulties managing large volume of complex data which increases day by day as their revenue grows. Though they can be done, it requires a large amount of time which they do not want to spend as they have other more pressing matters and priorities on hand.

So to create a win win situation, they decided to outsource to either data processing companies or individual freelancers who will like to earn extra income. That way, they can save a lot of time and able to focus better without worrying about whether or not the data is going to be updated every now and then.

For data processing companies, they require a large number of employees as the workload piles up. They prefer the employees to work from home and still be able to perform various tasks assigned to them. Their requirements are very simple. They do not need people with special skills or qualifications but those who are willing to commit their time and effort in getting the job done.

That is where you come in as data entry operators. So long as you have a PC, internet access and knows how to use them, that will do. You can work from home, cybercafes or cafes with wireless internet connection like TCC, Starbucks, Coffee Club or Coffee Bean.

There are different kinds of jobs as in data updating, data research, data processing, audio, video and general transcription just to name a few.

You may need to fill online forms in the required format such as Excel spreadsheets or input data from the emails they sent you into their online databases. Sometimes you may be required to upload images or handle invoices, payrolls and purchase receipts.

Some companies use MS Excel or Access as their clientele databases while others use internal software. Whichever they are, they will be asking you to type what they require you to from time to time.

Prior to that, you will be given a 1 or 2 day online training. Just because you are given flexibility in time and place, you still need to be serious in going through the whole training and making sure you understand everything before starting work. Take down notes on paper or enotepad if you have to especially when it comes to remembering a variety of essential things.

The career opportunities are endless. Because the industry is ever growing, you can earn a decent income permanently.

You do not need to deal with customers be it coldcalling, trying to sell them on phone or face-to-face as you see in other freelance jobs like telemarketing and MLM. Because of this, there are no sales targets to be met in order for you to get paid. You get paid for doing what you are supposed to do on time and to the company’s expectations.

Some jobs require typing skills and accuracy of vocabulary, spelling and grammar. Especially those with large mailing list and clients’ business cards that they need to be updated urgently. Still such work requires attention and care besides speed. This is so that you will not make any errors when keying in the data.

Like all other jobs out there, they requires you to learn and put in effort. You will not get rich overnight but you will eventually if you have the discipline to do what is necessary.
