The internet has made considerable changes to much of our everyday life. One thing in particular that the internet has changed is how we search for and apply for jobs. Gone are the days of searching for vacancies in the local paper. Instead job posting boards are gaining popularity. If you are a professional recruiter looking for new and innovative ways in which to hire talent or are a small business owner looking to advertise a position whilst keeping costs to a minimum then this article is for you. There are a good number of job posting boards on the web. There are boards that are industry specific or related to a particular area only. There are international job boards available too. These sites are sometimes confused with classified ads site. They are very different however. Classified ad sites are often filled with spam and more "work from home" style jobs. Job boards on the other hand are speciality sites for real jobs with salaries.
Job boards are absolutely perfect for job seekers to look for work. Anyone unemployed has access to literally thousands of jobs. In the past jobs were advertised in local papers or even in national newspapers. This limits the number of jobs a person has access too. Furthermore they have to make contact in order to receive an application form which needs to be filled in individually each time. Job boards make applying for work much easier. The CV can be automatically attached and there is far less information needed to be filled in on the electronic application form.
Job boards make the whole recruitment process easier for recruiters and employers too. They can see at a glance whether a candidate is going to be suitable. Any applicant who is not required to come to an interview can be simply deleted. There are no lengthy applications to clog up in trays and launching the campaign can be done so quickly that they make a great time saver too. A job posting can be created and posted in just a few moments and the job is then live for anyone to search for.
When you are writing a job posting it is important to consider how you write it. If you want to attract the very best applications then it is vital that the right information is included and all the benefits of the job are provided. Start the posting by explaining why your job is a great opportunity and then start providing the details of location, salary, benefits, working culture and hours. Consider the use of keywords too. If you want to have your post up near the top then you should try and use keywords that are frequently searched for but don't have too much competition - just like in the search engines!
As an employer looking to fill a position, there are other avenues you can take to advertise the post. If the location of the job is in a small town then advertising in the local paper can be worthwhile. Job boards are most helpful for jobs in large towns and cities, although they do have local jobs and international jobs displayed too. There is no doubt that online job boards are great low cost ways of recruiting. Many offer free job postings or at the very least, low cost fees to advertise.
If you are wanting to post job vacancies online, look for places where there are small or no upfront fees. There are some excellent free job posting sites out there that will ensure your vacancy is viewed by thousands of people. Job posting boards are not only effective but good value when it comes to advertising jobs.
