Before considering skin tag removal, it is important to know that these tags on the skin are in no way harmful to your health or dangerous. It is a completely benign outgrowth on the skin, and generally occurs in areas of the body where there are folds of skin, such as the neck, armpits, and groin. It has been observed that skin tags are more likely to occur on people of an older age and those who are obese. However, one may easily find exceptions to this, and the exact causes are not known.

While health-wise these tags pose no danger, it is true that they are not very appealing to look at, and can blemish one's looks, if they are visible. There are some simple and inexpensive home remedies that can be tried out first.

Baking Soda and Castor Oil

The combination of a pinch of baking soda with a few drops of castor oil is an extremely popular remedy not just for removing skin tags, but also moles and warts. Apply the paste to the tag 1-2 times a day, and in a week a clear difference will be visible.

Potatoes

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a popular home remedy for various skin conditions, including skin tags. Apply the vinegar by dipping some cotton into it and then applying the cotton on the tag. This should be done thoroughly and gently for about fifteen minutes. However, before doing this, make sure you clean the area with lukewarm water and dry it.

Tea Tree Oil

The tea tree oil needs to be applied the same way as described above for the vinegar. Apply it 2-3 times everyday to remove the tag.

Garlic

Garlic is a well-known skin nourisher, and is a great cure for skin conditions like skin tags. Grind the garlic till it is reduced to a pulpy paste, and then apply that paste on the tag and leave it overnight, held together by a bandage. In a few days the tag should be gone.

The ingredients for these treatments are all easily available, and they are inexpensive. There are no side effects either. All in all, it is worth giving these home remedies a shot before you decide to go in for a medical procedure to remove skin tags.
