If you've been implementing "Google AdSense" on your website for a while, and you feel that you aren't making the kind of money that you should be, you probably need to fine tune things a little.

To start with, you need to get traffic. Lots of traffic would be nice. Then you need to get those hard-earned visitors to click on your AdSense adverts and earn you some extra cash.

There are many ways to turn your website traffic into AdSense traffic. Here are a few suggestions to help bring you more success.

The first thing you need to do is tune up your website's content. For some people this isn't an option. If you're running a forum, for example, it's very hard to organise the content as you would like. For the rest of us, however, it is relatively easy to turn our little home on the web into a cash-generating juggernaut.

To begin, you should be aware of what your website's keywords, or keyword phrases, are. This is a basic technique in search engine optimization, known as "keyword density verification". A good tool to use is "SEO Density Analizer".

You should then take your list of keywords and search the "Overture Search Inventory" or "Google AdWords Sandbox" to find out if any other words could be doing a better job than those you're currently using.

Try to keep your website focused on the things that appear mostly in the keyword suggestions you receive. Include those keywords, or at least some related keywords, as often as you can in the various links and content on your website. Because of the way AdSense works, this is an excellent way to increase your earnings because you'll get better adverts in your AdSense units and banners.

It's also important that you continuously add new pages to your website. The more pages you have, the higher the chance that you'll get more hits on your AdSense adverts.

Make sure you choose the appropriate formats for your AdSense units and find the best locations for them. This is a much wider subject, but you should be aware that the top three "Google AdSense" formats are: 336x280 large rectangle, 300x250 medium rectangle and 160x600 skyscraper.

Make sure that the colors you choose for the units are also appropriate, as making them too different from your website design will probably mean that visitors regard them as adverts that have nothing to do with the content they are viewing.

Position the AdSense units where they'll generate the highest amount of profit. The best place to position your main AdSense unit is before the beginning of the actual content of the page. On pages with a long text body, you might find skyscrapers do better, simply because visitors get exposed to them longer.

You should use more AdSense units if you have a lot of text on your page. Just make sure not to overdo it because you might find that you will get lower click-through rates, and lower revenues, than you were getting in the first place. You can add as many as three units to a page, so use them wisely.
