Thanksgiving Sports

Maybe you're the kind of person that doesn't care too much about Thanksgiving traditions. Does that sound like an accurate description of yourself? If so, then you'll be happy to know that there are a number of Thanksgiving sports going on this year in the New York City area! Now we all know that Thanksgiving football is a popular tradition in of itself, but you could actually attend a Thanksgiving Football 2010 game if you have an early enough dinner? Why's that? Well, it's because the New York Jets (even though they play in New Jersey....) are playing the Cincinnati Bengals at 8:20 PM at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. I've recently become slightly more into football than I used to be, so I'll probably watch this game on TV after we have our Thanksgiving feast. However, you can one-up me and attend this game in person if you are staying with MetroFlats.com in NYC!
Tickets are still available for this game, so go to NewYorkJets.com to purchase them while they're still there. Although the Bengals are an atrocious team this year (they're 2-8 this year), it will still be a fun event to attend, as well as a break from the traditional post-Thanksgiving dinner activities. Of course, it may be difficult convincing your significant other to go to a football game on Thanksgiving (unless they are also football fans), and I can't help you with that. I can only say that it's at least worth a shot to ask! My only advice is to say that it would be a great family bonding experience. And besides, you're going to have to do something with all that money you saved by getting a MetroFlats.com vacation sublet instead of a traditional hotel. NY Jets tickets are also fairly reasonable (especially since they are desperate to get people to the stadium...why they're having problems getting people to see a great team is beyond me), so money shouldn't be an issue.
Unfortunately, Football will be the only sport going on in the New York area, but there will be some NBA games on at night on TV. Specifically, the Atlanta Hawks will be playing the Washington Wizards at 8PM followed by the Sacramento Kings against the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30 PM. I love basketball, but both of those games are fairly boring in terms of the match up. So when it comes to exciting games in the NYC area during Thanksgiving 2010, football is the best choice.
