Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

In order to find out how much calories you need every day, you will need to calculate it to find the optimum dietary and exercise plan for you. The formula to find this out is:

Body Weight [lb] x 15 + (physical activity [minutes/day] x 3.5) = BMR

BMR - 500 kcal = weight loss target

So for example, if you weigh 150 lb and exercise 30 minutes every day, your basal metabolic rate would be:

(150 x 15) + (30 x 3.5) = 2250 + 105 = 2355 kcal.

2355 - 500 = 1855 kcal.

What this means is that 1855 kcal is what you need to lose per pound in a week.

Snack Happy

This method can work for those who love snacking or those who need more meals to help them to sustain themselves throughout the day. Instead of having chips, cookies, cakes, or a chocolate bar for snack time, why not eat healthy foods? Alternatives include almonds and fruits like apples or oranges. This method helps those who need to crunch on something to get essential nutrients and those who need larger food portions to space their meals out during evenly during the day which helps control sugar and energy levels.

Skipping Meals

Although this idea may be tempting especially if you want to go to a buffet. However, what ever you do, never skip a meal. This will actually just make things worse because it is not helping you to have a balanced calorie intake during the day and will lower your blood sugar levels.

Exercising

Without a doubt, exercise is a necessary ingredient to help you lose weight. Most Government authorities around the world recommend between 30 to 60 minutes or some form of physical activity per day in order to stay fit and healthy. Strength exercises are important and should be done at least twice a week. Other physical activity that counts and are either fun or necessary include vigorously cleaning the house, dancing around at home or at a  dance club to music, walking the dog, and constantly walking (including up or down the escalator) at a shopping mall.
