Is There Really a Way to Lose Weight Fast?

Actually, to answer the question in the title, yes, there are ways to lose weight fast. However, as with anything in life, this lofty idea of losing unwanted pounds in an expedient matter should already raise red flags. As a favorite skeptic's adage goes, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You will discover that there are certain trade-offs and catches to deal with in anything that appears amazingly great in theory. Just imagine, not only will you get to lose extra pounds, you wouldn't need to wait to see results.
But then again, these methods of quickly losing weight will start showing their bad sides in no time. You cannot really subscribe to these methods for life, or you might endanger your health. When you finally take time out from these methods, chances are, the weight you lost will be gained soon enough. Moreover, these methods of letting a person shed off extra pounds in a short time mainly focus on diet. Fad diets have time and again proven themselves to take a toll on your health. Depriving yourself of food by starving will have you attain your ideal weight fast, but that will surely involve you ending up on a hospital.
To lose weight fast, you have to keep in mind that at the end of the day, your overall well-being should still be number one priority. That does not mean only being in shape, but also getting a positive outlook in life. After all, how can you really appreciate a slim figure if you are always irritable and grouchy due to lack of nutrition? Thus, another question surfaces: should a person really focus on losing weight in the fastest way possible or divert his or her energies into keeping the weight off permanently? As already stressed, losing weight fast is unhealthy as it is almost impossible. Losing weight fast and keeping it off after would be too ambitious. Even Hollywood celebrities and fitness gurus will tell you that even if you lose your excess weight faster than you can say "diet," a lot more work is to be done after to keep it off, thus making the whole "fast" argument void as it longer time to maintain the weight will eventually offset the short time it took to primarily lose the pounds.
If you are serious in losing weight, then it would be better to pace yourself in a steadily time rather than start off too quick. Fast weight loss does not work because (1) The effort involved is not really imbibed into one's psyche. You only exerted effort for a short time, so you won't really feel the need to appreciate it and secure the gains you got from it - your mind will be susceptible to thinking, "Well I did it fast before, I don't see why I can't do it fast again the next time." (2) As already mentioned, the human body adapts to quick weight loss by slowing down the metabolism, as the body thinks that quick weight loss is abnormal, and therefore it will hold on to anything it can just so that the body won't lose weight anymore. Even with the same effort, you may experience some plateau, or worse you may end up gaining more after losing some weight easier. To lose weight fast is to cheat on your body's normal processes and your body will eventually catch up with you. So, think twice before really contemplating on doing an unusually fast method of weight loss.
