What is so special about green tea weight loss? Everyone has heard the rumors that green tea can help you shed pounds, but is there any truth to that idea?Sure, we've all heard about how green tea can help with heart disease and provide antioxidants to fight aging, but do the benefits include weight loss?

Green tea contains a number of active compounds, such as caffeine, polyphenols, catechins and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg). Studies have shown that EGCg helps to raise your metabolism, letting your body burn off calories more efficiently.

You will likely notice that your food digests quicker when you drink a lot of green tea, so be prepared to feel hungrier sooner than you used to. Healthy and low-calorie snacks can help you deal with that. In itself, green tea has no calories at all, so you don't have anything to worry about when you drink it.

There are green tea capsules or supplements on the market too, and some do say that they would work just as well. Most green tea lovers prefer to stick with a lovely hot cup of tea though. Not only does it taste better, it's much cheaper too.

So how much green tea do you need to drink each day in order to see some weight loss results? Three or four cups should do the trick, though even one can help. You do need to remember that green tea does have caffeine in it (many people mistakenly feel its caffeine-free), so too many cups each day can cause problems. If you are getting great results losing weight with green tea, switch to decaffeinated and then you can drink as much as you want.

There are many different kinds of green tea to choose from. You can get tea bags or loose tea, organic or not, and then there are varieties from different countries. Though there can be subtle taste differences between a Sencha and a Dragonwell tea, there aren't any chemical differences that would many any one kind of tea better than another in terms of healthy compounds. You can just pick the ones you like and stick with them.

Stay away from any of the new soft drinks that have been flavored with green tea. At least, stay away from them as a way to lose weight. There is so little actual green tea in them that they will give you no benefits, and the extra sugar calories will just make things worse. Drink real brewed green tea to see those pounds disappear.

But I do recommend you try green tea weight loss since it could really help you shed those extra pounds effectively and quickly.
