Finding a quality truck rental is not as easy as just going behind one that offers the cheapest trucks possible. And if you think you can find one just 2 days prior to moving to a new city or home you are in for a real tough time. For, a good truck rental is found after days or weeks of enquiries and asking around. There are many factors that come into question while looking for a company that gives you satisfactory truck hire service.
First of all, the company that provides the cheapest trucks is of course not the best one. With so many companies with online booking it is not difficult to find the rates that each company offer. It is easy to get carried away with the low prices that you find in some of those websites. However, that would be a big mistake. For, low cost is often accompanied by low quality vehicles, break downs, repairs, etc. Hence, show some patience and take time to know in detail about each company before approaching them. You could ask your friends or acquaintances before deciding. Reading some of the customer testimonials is also another idea to know about a truck rental company.
Be sure and clear of your needs before you visit the company office or talk to their staff. Make sure you have proper answers to their questions like when you want the truck, where do you want to take it to, when you can return the truck, how much luggage are you planning to carry, what documents you have with you, what documents they will provide, etc. Reaching an agreement on these details can save you a lot of trouble later.
Plan well in advance. Enquire when you’ll get a truck cheaper. Truck rentals are becoming more and more popular now with the petrol cost booming high. It is better, therefore, if you could book the truck at least a month in advance. If you could make the date on a week day and that too sometime in the middle of the month, you could find the truck easier and faster, and sometimes if you are lucky, cheaper too.
Ensure the safety of the vehicle before moving. You don’t want to get stuck in the middle of the road with your entire luggage packed inside. Find out from the truck rental company how often they service the vehicle. Try the vehicle once or twice to see whether you are comfortable driving it. Check the seat belt and the doors. These are of primary importance as you might be travelling alone mostly while moving your things.
While hiring a truck it is good to be economical, but being practical is even more important. Beyond everything else, what you need is a good quality truck that keeps you safe and sound while transferring your luggage to your new home or office.
