While riding a horse wouldn't matter if you have the correct gear, competing in motocross requires a lot of riding gear. The following are some tips on utilizing riding gear to rev up your performance.

Ensure that you simply simply raise your visor so it doesn't block your vision. Always look up the trail, the farther you look ahead, the higher your margin of safety is, and the faster you can go into that section.

Take out the vinyl liner just in front of your mouth on the within of the helmet to get maximum airflow to your face. The backflow from your humid breath will be reduced as well as fogging of your goggles, thus, help you avoid overheating. But do not remove any of the Styrofoam, or any similar material, designed to absorb the shock of a crash.

Always get your goggles ready for the worst possible circumstances you might face. Take out the lens, then wash the goggle with your hands and dry it thoroughly. Spray the inside of the lens with breath fog deflector solution and treat the outside with windshield wash. If water is expected on the course, use a static remover to repel dust.

Switch to riding glasses rather than goggles if the conditions are very hot and humid. You'll notice the difference in the amount of air cooling your face. A note of caution though, be aware that you are compromising eye protection.

It's necessary to carry water to drink in any race that lasts longer than half an hour. So you are going to have a drink system attached to the back of your chest protector. To counter its weight zip-tie the bottom front of the chest protector to the belt on your pants. This will prevent the front of your chest protector from digging into your Adam's apple.

During hot weather, don't wear calf-length socks but instead wear light, short socks. Your feet acts like a radiator for your body. Thick, tall socks overlap your riding pants, therefore, heating you up further. That is, if your boots are comfortable enough to be worn this way.

Always check the climate channel for the forecast, although it may not be always accurate but it will give you a good idea of the possible condition of the weather. Then dress up accordingly.

It's wise to have a good supply of latex/vinyl gloves at your beckoning. You're going to need them when cleaning and re-oiling air filters.

Two percent of body weight lost to sweat can cause fatigue and loss of mental acuity. So ensure that you always drink up. You are dehydrated when your urine has a dark color. Only drinking when thirsty should be avoided.
