When the winter weather sets in you begin to need more than just a jacket to keep you warm. Fashion has adapted to help protect us against the elements, so there are now lots of winter accessories that are both chic and warm. To help you keep out the cold in style, here are some classic accessories for the winter season.

Scarf

A scarf is an ideal accessory for the winter season. Not only do scarves keep you lovely and warm, but they also come in an amazing range of patterns and style that can add real distinction to an outfit. Whether you prefer a cosy knitted scarf, or a stunning silk scarf, you’ll be able to find one to really suit your style.

This season knitwear is a big trend so you may want to go for a chunky cable knit scarf with lots of knitted detail. If you would prefer something a bit lighter then lace is also right on trend and there are lots of beautiful lace scarves currently available. For something a bit more feminine opt for a scarf with a pretty floral print.

Hat

A cosy and warm hat always goes down well in winter. This season embrace the faux fur trend and go for a retro style round fur hat or a fur trapper hat. Alternatively, a beret is a chic design classic and can be worn with lots of ladylike winter outfits. A knitted hat will work the knitwear trend whilst also being snug and warm.

Gloves

Another winter classic, gloves are a great accessory to wear during the cold winter weather. For a smart ladylike look, go for a pair of leather gloves in black or brown. On trend this season are long elbow length gloves, so if you’re brave enough to work this dramatic glove look opt for some leather or knitted gloves that run as far as your elbow. Shearling is also bang on trend so invest in a pair of shearling mittens for warmth and style.

Snood

A snood is an edgy alternative to the winter scarf and it’s been a popular accessory choice for the last few seasons. A snood is particularly good for a casual look as it hangs loosely around the neck. Snoods are available in a wide variety of patterns and colours and work particularly well in chunky cable knits.

Earmuffs

Sometimes the weather can be so cold and windy it makes your ears ache. This is why earmuffs are such a classic winter accessory as they help to protect your ears and add a quirky twist to your outfit. If you want a really fun look then go for a pair of earmuffs that have a fluffy animal on each ear, such as a rabbit or panda bear. If this option seems a little too childish then go for a plain pair of earmuffs as these can be found in sensible colours like black, navy and white.
