Most communities that are lucky enough to have a pool don’t have the available budget to constantly be replacing the necessary equipment and components. The majority of the budget allotted by the home owners association or community council goes into hiring a pool company to provide regular pool maintenance in the hope that the upkeep will keep the pool fully functional for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, if the pool company that your home owners association is relying on to provide maintenance isn’t using every precaution when performing the work or if they are adopting outdated methods of cleaning and PH maintenance, they could actually be doing more harm than good.

Using the traditional caustic chemicals can ultimately result in safe and clean water to swim in, but regular use of those harsh chemicals can cause do damage to the equipment that is necessary for your pool to operate properly. Caustic chemicals can shorten the life of your pools recirculation pumps and of the filtration system, which could result in the need for expensive repairs and replacements.

Those same caustic chemicals can also lead to maintenance and structural problems due to improper storage. If chlorine and acid are stored in rooms with electrical or mechanical equipment, spills of fume leaks could result in corrosion to the equipment, fitting and support structures requiring the home owners association to shell out even more money for repairs.

Thankfully, there are reputable pool companies now that practice a form of pool maintenance that is safer for surroundings and much friendlier to necessary pool equipment. Using CO2 to achieve proper PH levels and to sanitize pools is much safer in terms of storage and use than virtually all of the more traditional methods used by individuals and pool maintenance companies.

CO2 delivers the same, if not better, results when it comes to making a pool safe for community residents to use, but has no ill effects on pool surfaces or equipment or on surrounding storage structures. A pool maintenance company that makes use of these safer alternatives will most certainly save you money and extend the life of your pool equipment.
