Pregnancy is such a special time for most women, especially if it is their first baby. Each visit to a Blackfoot ID gynecologist can say so many things about the growth of the baby and the health of the mother during gestation. Even if this is not a woman's first pregnancy, there are many reasons that women should visit their gynecologist regularly. Here are just a few.
Tubal Pregnancies-
Tubal pregnancies are when the egg has not completely dropped and is sitting in the Fallopian tube. This can be very dangerous to the baby and deadly to the mother. A Fallopian tube can only stretch so far and to grow a baby in it full term could mean the death of the mother. If side pains are felt at the beginning of pregnancy, going to the doctor or the emergency room is absolutely essential to ensure that the baby has fully descended and is doing fine.
Pregnancy Complications-
Having a full gynecological exam done when a woman finds out she is pregnant is very important, especially if this is her first pregnancy. An exam can tell the mother whether she has a tilted uterus, if she will be able to deliver vaginally and any possible complications she may have if vaginal delivery is decided. These are very important decisions to be made in advance of delivery so that the mother can make a birth plan with her doctor so that he is aware of what the mother's wishes are when it comes to delivering her child.
Mother's Health-
The health of the mother while she is pregnant is very important. There are many complications that can arise that can harm the baby seriously. Things like pre-eclempsia or high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, not gaining enough weight, or adversely, gaining too much weight. All of these things can effect how the baby will grow while inside the mother's womb. Even severe morning sickness or the inability to sleep can be a factor in the baby's health-- even at a young age as this.
Baby's Health-
Everyone wants to give birth to a healthy baby. That is one reason that visiting the gynecologist is so important. They can run tests to make sure that the baby is unlikely to have downs syndrome, has the correct amount of red blood cells, has all their limbs and is growing properly. With the use of modern technology, each time the mother goes in to the doctor, she will get to hear the baby's heartbeat, and she will be measured for growth of the baby. At least one ultrasound will be done as well to determine the sex of the baby so that the mother can start preparing for the baby.
