Its amazing how beautiful orchids are when they are displayed at wedding ceremonies. They bring a certain elegance and grace, so making sure you get the best out of your wedding orchids is important for that special day.
There are number of varieties we can look at and some great ideas for them as well.
1 – Look at Cymbidium orchids; they came in such colours as white, yellow, pink, and pale green. They bloom with attractive large flower heads and using these orchids for your bridal bouquet can result in a wonderful display of colours and scented smells. Being more resistant in hotter climates they don’t dry out like other flowers and are perfect for a summer wedding.
2 – Another great choice is the delicate Dendrobium orchid. They display such colours as white and purple and are often used in garlands or on wedding tables. For decorating the table with a natural and colourful display, try cutting the flower heads and arranging them around the reception and eating areas.
3- Vanda and Phalaenopsis orchids are an exquisite and unique choice and aren’t usually chosen for wedding orchids. This can be due to their costs but they are beautiful nonetheless. The vanda orchid has varieties that show off a white chequered pattern and a dazzling purple. Phalaenopsis orchids also show a striking purple as well as a silky white.
4- The centrepieces at weddings are a wonderful place to attract attention. Here wedding orchids can be displayed using their height and colours to draw people in. Look at other areas you can decorate after finishing the centrepieces and the bouquet. The entrance and reception areas would be another great place to show off orchids.
5- Be careful with the scents that certain types of orchid’s posses. They can be overpowering and not everyone is accustomed to them. Allergies are a headache you don’t won’t on a wedding day as some guests may start to sneeze or feel a little woozy.
6 - You can save a bit on your budget and pocket by buying your wedding orchids in bulk. This is great as you can buy from the garden growers themselves and leave out the middle man. Bear in mind thou that when they come in, some may show bruising and even lose of blooms. With the right attention they will grow back to health in no time.
7 – Planning and organising the wedding orchid arrangements is a telling task so prepare well. Draw out any ideas and don’t be afraid to ask for any help on the matter. Have a look at books, magazines and online for any ideas or inspirations you may want to work on as there are plenty of examples out there.
With some creative thinking who knows, you might hear praises from people attending the wedding day saying "what are those beautiful flower arrangements you used?" and "I love how you decorated the wedding using orchids".
It’s always a good feeling so enjoy and take in the splendour of these wonderful flowers.
