When it comes to bargain shopping for my home I am the "bargain king".

I like to shop and I don't mind spending time digging through close out or discontinued items for treasures. I recently redecorated my guest bathroom. I wanted more color and a theme. I decided on a beach theme but that was a just a guide line, just something I had in mind, because you can never be sure what style or colors you will be able to find.

With my list in hand, shower curtain, rugs and accessories that I might want to buy, I headed out to the local discount stores. I don't waste time looking at the new trendy stuff, I go right for the discontinued shelves.

A the first store, Ross, I found some accessories right away that I liked but not the shower curtain I wanted so I skipped the accessories and went to another store.

My next stop was Marshalls. They like to say they have good prices and I guess they do for clothes and such, but not much of a selection for household stuff. I like to check as you never know what you will find.

This day, Marshalls was a total bust so I headed to J.C. Penney. They had some nice things in the theme I wanted but the prices were higher than I wanted to pay.

I had two stores left in my regular discount hunt, Kohl's and Macy's. Both of these stores are pricey but sometimes if you are diligent you can find a great buy.

At Kohl's I found the shower curtain I wanted, it had the colors of the ocean and sand. It reminded me of the ocean in Hawaii, and it was a great price so I bought it. It was only $15.00 and was extra wide so I knew it would fit perfectly.

Accessories are always a problem for me as I like to change them out frequently. I found that the some of the best places to buy them are thrift stores.

I always check Goodwill first, then Salvation Army. The army has the best prices but in my small city the selection is sometimes limited. Today though I scored! Two pictures in cute frames, a blue rug, and a great new towel rack in a beach style, all for less than $10.00.

Cheap shower curtains and accessories are easy to find if you practice your hunting skills and patience.
